I wonder what happened that he had to blow 53k on a new motor...

Still, the Rosso Barchetta color makes me want it really bad.

Something I caught from the ad, "It has Racing floating rotors up front with ceramic brakes." Then I noticed in the pictures those are stock front brakes. Maybe they are old pictures.

He obviously isn't an accountant. $170k invested and $100k expensed. Net value = $70k

Guys, last winter I spoke several times with this seller and actually came close to buying this car. While I didn't verify the amounts he claims were spent on the car I did speak with the service mgr at Ferrari of Tampa Bay where the work was done who confirmed that the car is real and well done. At the time he was asking $75K and I thought the car could be bought for $65-70K. Now asking $85K.

I'm on this thread since instead of this 355 I'm buying a '95 berlinetta in blu scuro/cuoio of which Peter Kalikow is reported to be the first owner.

Looks to me like he should have spent just a little bit more and had the cover for the passenger air bag fixed.

I had just under $170k in mine after 8 years so that's not unreasonable (including what I paid for it, which I'm assuming this seller is doing as well). The asking price is completely nuts though.

I bought my 1998 355 F1 GTS new in 1998. I have over $170K or so in it with all the by the book service.

The $170K doesn't include Sales Tax, Annual Registration, Insurance, Smog, Tires, and Detailing.

I have all the service info and the car is in near Concours condition.

Rosso Corso with a Nero interior.

I have 8000 miles on her.

What does that make my car worth?

    Cheers,
    Xenu

    Everyone,

I know this car and owner very well. Steve is a personal friend of mine and we have
spent many days cruising together around Tampa in our 355's. We ran into each
other at a car show one day (cars and coffee, Tampa Bay at the Du Pont Registry)
and we had identical cars and colors (Rossa Barchetta, 1995 model year) and we
just both happen to be ex-South African, so it was almost an instant friendship. That
was around 3-4 years ago so I have been privvy to all the "work" that has been
    done on this car.

Steve is obsessive about his car. He probably paid around 90k for it and the rest
of the 80k is all legit. It recently had a very major overhual of everything in the
engine and the car itself. Anything that can be fixed / replaced has been done. The
engine had a full port/polish and a blue print rebuild at Ferrari Tampa Bay for around
42k and prior to that he had spent around 20k at Mossimo to do the engine work
(search for Mossiomo / "the auto legend" to find out that story). The other stuff is
all tires, wheels for the track, wheel bolts, brakes (the picture you posted is old,
he has new disc brakes on it) etc. It also has brand new fabspeeds and tubis (old)
Also while it was at Tampa Bay Ferrari they did the dash recover and some
    other cosmetic stuff.

It has also been detailed religiously by our mutual friend Dave who filmed alot of the
    video below.

As for the performance of this car: Incredible is all I can say about it. He has
had the computers re-flashed to some sort of racing code and it just pulls and drives
so much harder than my car. From a rolling start, by the time I hit around 130 or so
he is 2-3 car lengths ahead of me (shooting blue flames at every gear change). I have
personally seen him outrun lambos and keep up with 430's, no BS, seen it with my
    own eyes.

Here is a video of the car and some of the races he has done. You can actually see
me and my car behind his at 6:42 in the video. The lambo is an old friend and he consistently outruns it. The 430 is a friend of ours as well (Rich) and he can keep up with it all day long.

If there ever was a 355 to purchase, this is it. The whole damn car has just been
rebuilt at this point so its pretty much like brand new, and runs just as fast and hard
as ever. The lucky guy that buys it for $85k is stealing it IMO. I would like to see this
car too a true Ferrari enthusiast.

PM me if you want to know more. Good luck.

The pictures are old. The car has girodiscs on it new with new lines and ceramic pads. This
was at my recommendation when he burned up a set of rotors and pads one day at the
    track.

Street racing, hitting160+ on public roads, doing donuts in a parking lot then uploading it all to YouTube. Not wise. I wouldn't buy a car that had been owned by someone with that kind of judgement.

After watching the video, I think the asking price is actually too high.

Compression test, leakdown and a dyno run. Some interested parties may find that helpful.
A "proper" video of the procedure would put the car in its correct price range.

    I'm keeping my 355 until I die!!!

It was my only Ferrari out of the six I have owned that I bought new, to mark a milestone in my business. I took my Doctor for a quick ride yesterday in her and his eyes were VERY wide open when I dropped him off at his office. He is 77.

I daily drive my 2004 575M, my 2000 Porsche 996, and my 2003 Ford Lightning truck.

I have collectors insurance with a $90K agreed value on the 355.
