I love the 512TR as I have 2 and I am now adding a 512M. The sound of the flat 12 w a tubi is fantastic, the power is also amazing & its just the most gorgeous road car ever. Downside is the brakes are good for the road but weak for the track, the transmission needs to be babied a bit, it doesnt like to be abused. I would also highly suggest adding an oil cooler & a transmission oil cooler.

Dont reallly know enough about the 355 although its a nice little car but I think the 512TR , being a 12 is much more of a classic

I am quite biased towards 512TR but would want opinions from fchatters who own both or have experienced in both cars to guide me.

I have had both went from a 1990 testarossa to a 355 and it was easier to drive smaller and had pas but its a different driving car the 355 has to be reved to make it go in my opinion it was guttless the 12 cylinder has loads of tourqe and at low revs it just pulls away even on the motorway at 70mph the 355 has to be dropped a couple of gears to make it go but the 12 cyl you just put your foot down i kept the 355 for 2 months and bought a F512M buts thats my opinon

I have a 355, I love it. It's an awesome all-around Ferrari and if I could just have one....this is it. Ya gotta have a convertible in California.

As for your choice, I'd go with the 512TR...now you have a 12-cylinder Ferrari and a classic. I'm rather new to the Ferrari scene...but it seems the TR put Ferrari on the map! Definite classic!!

I was told that 512TR has less problem than 355 and therefore are cheaper to maintain. Is this correct? I mean more visit to the mechanics on 355?

It really depends on how you intend to use the car. For long cross country drives, go with the TR. For track and short trips or whipping around on back country B-roads, the F355 is the way to go.
