I removed the engine out from my 355 yesterday, and found one thing a little strange. The cam belt at bank 5-8 was not sitting tight at all, it had a lot of play.

What is best to do at this point? Just adjust the tensioner or? HOW do i do this the proper way at this stage, when the belt has been sitting for apx 1000-2000 km? The belts were changed just a while ago(spring -08)), so i found this a bit strange. Does the tension on the belts change depending on the phase of the motor(opening-closing valves)? Can the hydraulic tensioner be worned out on this side maybe?

By the way, the cam belt on bank 1-4 was on the other hand really tight...

    Thankful for help.

As a general rule of thumb, when belts are too tight they cause bearing damage, and when too loose they allow slippage. Some cam belts (e.g. 348) are allowed to be tightened *once* in their lifetime after 800 miles of driving from initial installation.

You definitely want to measure, verify, and use the proper torque.
