Hello, I'm hoping to get a feel for what kind of interest there would be if a beautiful, high quality, fairly priced, Real Carbon Fiber 355 Air Box Cover was made available?? Something similar to the Carbon Fiber Air Box Covers Tubi offers for the 360's and 430's.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would be most interested in a CF heat shield for the engine bay!

Who's going to be making these? There may be interest, but they actually need to be of the highest quality.

You can just have your stock heat shield wrapped, I'm hoping to do that in a month or two. If you do a search one UK Fchat member did it, looked fantastic.

Ok I wanted to make sure I had approval from the person who would actually make these before posting his info here. His name is Yuri and he works for this company: http://www.sloair.com/ Yuri builds Carbon Fiber Air Planes which compete in the Reno Air Races, you may read a little about him here: http://www.sloair.com/about-us.php .

The Slo Air Facility is a full on Carbon Fiber Shop and they would make these parts the same way they build their planes, real pre-impregnated carbon fiber, vacuum bagged and oven cured. A little bit of trivia on them, Mirco Pecorari who designed the paint scheme on their Nemisis Plane was also involved in some of the design work on the Pagani Zonda. When I learned about them the wheels in my head immediately started turning wondering what would be some great projects to do with them and basically where could we fill a void. So if 355 Carbon Fiber Air Box Covers are in demand, I'd like to make it happen.

Please continue to post your thoughts, I'm thinking that if an established well respected FerrariChat member would like to be involved in the project, I'd comp. them the first set in exchange for them posting their impressions of the product and allowing us to use their original 355 Air Box covers to make a mold from. You would receive your original boxes back but it is possible that they may get a little scratched during the process but structurally they would be fine. Turnaround would be about 2-3 weeks.

    Thank you,
    Gary

Oh c'mon Robbie, I wouldn't want them to scratch yours. I'll let them use mine instead :D :D Besides my engine is out, I have no use for air boxes or plenums anyway!

I do have a question--I thought at one time I read that the air boxes were different inside for 2.7 and 5.2---Also the later model cars had a different design inside--Any truth to this --Anyone??? I guess it wouldn't matter if only the top of the box is covered, but for the entire box?

Tops are different for 2.7 and 5.2.....dimensions are the same(and use same filters) but outflow tube is located at different points.

Thanks for the info. Looks like this first version will be for the 5.2 with the possibility of doing a 2.7 version in the future.

I want to thank everyone for their input, this is exciting stuff!
