So I've had my 3 cat ecu's on my 97 355 unplugged for 1000 miles and everything's great except for CEL that you get when you unplug. Does anyone know of a way to eliminate this? Is there maybe some sort of circuit board I could plug the cat ecu plug into instead of the cat ecu and get the return voltages I need back to main ecu? I've looked everywhere on the web and can't find one. p.s. I have no cats.

    Any help much appreciated,
    Jeff

put cats on the car. back in the day I used to run a car or 2 non-cat, but with the inexpensive, hight flow, metal matrix cats out there today, there is no reason not to run cats. All my street cars have cats nowadays, even the turbo and supercharged cars. I won't preach any more than to say it is not necessary and socially irresponsible to run without catalytic converters these days

I will agree on why to run cats.

If the cat ECUs are in the car, I believe the ECU coding can be modified to ignore the low temp readings from the thermocouples. However, if the ECUs themselves dont work (sending an incorrect voltage or none at all) you cant really do anything but replace them.

    Unlikely you can.

You will have two codes for "low catalyst efficiency" on each bank, PLUS you will have a code for the exhaust bypass valve.

Why are they unplugged? You gain nothing by having them unplugged.
