Need your thoughts. Friend of mine has a '98 355 Spider that is having all the usual Cat issues. Lots of slow down lights, engine actually cut half the cylinders off at one point, another it just wouldn't restart after a slow down episode. He knows from a very good shop that the Cats are shot. Their recommendation is remove them and put in straight pipes. He lives in a city that does not have emissions testing. My questions is this - how will this impact the resale value of the car? If traded to a dealer will they just deduct the price of getting it back to normal? Would most private buyers avoid the car, etc? How uncomfortable would you be as a potential buyer if someone offered a 355 with no Cats? Im curious on this one. IMHO this is a really bad idea. Tim
I stuck on straight pipes when my Cats went. Then a few months latter a pair of good Cats came up so i bought them and put them in my gararge in storage. So when and if the car gets sold i will have the cats to put back on the car.
I am in the UK and i got a very good pair of used Cats from a low milage car for £200 for the pair. Its breeze fitting cats on, small job
Buy Hyperflows and stay legal, get more power, sound, and some bling in the engine compartment. What'd ya think I'd say!?!?
D, Always good to hear from you. What's the going price on Hyperflows and typical install costs? Thanks as always, Tim FYI - The floormats and screw in hold down things worked perfectly in my 360.
I had to put good cats. on my '96 Spider in order to drive my car in CA. so I have a pair of hollowed out factory looking cats if anyone needs them. I'll let them go for $500 obo plus shipping.
