is there a company out there that makes center consoles for 355s that look like the original, obviously without the stickiness, instead of just the carbon fiber look? any info would be appreciated.

The stickyness is fairly easy to address. Unless there is something else wrong with it......?

Well, hate to say this but the Fiero kit car guys make/made the top center that will fit the real cars......they solved the sticky thing(7 years ago) and the toggle switches they use look just like ours for about 1/10 the cost.

Powder coat the ashtray cover, replace the HVAC panel with the Ricambi unit http://www.ricambiamerica.com/article_info.php?articles_id=1 for $75. Then replace the shifter suround for about $65 and use some soft 'scotch bright' on the part around the mirror control and ashtray surround. You will spend less than $200 and a little bit of elbow grease....... then it will look awesome :)!!

Here is mine "before" the HVAC and shifter surround!!! This was only with 'scotch brite' and powdercoating on the ashtray......;)

can you guys fabricate a console for the 355 that looks like the original without the carbon fiber? i would certainly pay what you charged for the carbon fiber, i just dont like the way carbon fiber looks in a 355.

Sure, and it is functional when made in carbon fiber, since it's stronger than the stock pieces, which often warp and break. Of course, we don't need to see the weave necessarily, so it can be painted satin black, but it would still be made the same way, out of carbon fiber.

Maybe I missed in the thread---What exactly are you looking for? A stock looking console, but made of CF, but painted black? You can take your stock one and make it look great with a few goodies and some paint. If yours is broke--maybe get one out of a wrecked car--a lot less $$$

i could care less about the carbon fiber, i have plenty of that in my cs. i just want my center console to look like it doesnt belong in a chevy corsica. so if you guys can tell me how to get it refurbished, or just get a new one that looks like it is supposed too, then that is all i am asking for. thanks.

This is the best and cheapest way to make you car look like it should. The time that you spend working on your old parts to make them look about half as good as they should is much better spent just buyiing the new ones and snaping them in.

Wow, where did that come from. I've still got it, it has been apart for awhile while undergoing conversion to a cable shift linkage so that I can fit a good dry sump system. Just got the motor back today, the oil light went off about 4 months ago and I trailered it home. Good thing, significant damage to the crankshaft thrust bearing but nothing to the crank or any other pricey parts.

It will be back at VIR next summer.

Also remember the factory stuff WILL get sticky again--down the road--may take 6 months or 6 years depending on how often you leave it out in the sun..but it certainly is a quick fix if that's what your looking for. Just undo a few bolts and screws and slap the new piece in place...Post some pics of the console as is - some up close also...Let's see what were dealing with here....trust me--We have seen some bad ones for sure..

Mine below--After a new HVAC panel from Daniel , some paint and elbow grease! Total costs less than $100
