I thought my fellow ferrari 355 friends would enjoy these pictures. I modified the 355 exhaust to a straight pipe format. My mechanic (F1 Imports and exotics in Naples,FL) installed a standard 355 header with the heat shield and modified a 2 3/4" pipe out the back. He had to add a crossover pipe to exchange the exhaust (not shown in the pictures). You can see the O2 sensors were custom made. I drove the car yesterday and it was a blast to drive.
The plan is to cut the pipes off flush with the rear grill.
    Enjoy!!!!!

Very cool!! How did he detail the 'Y' connection on the 355 Header?
Did you dyno before & after?

Thats ok for the track but wont even remotely sound like a Ferrari. I would think that it will be very loud and sound more like a GT car or tractor. :)

It sounds good and more like a GT car. If it sounded like an Italian tractor it would be a LAMBORGINI!!!!

Hows the heat with this setup?

I will post some more pictures. The stock header was cut at the y-pipe. The heat is less then the standard setup because of the elimination of the cats and extra pipes. I installed the standard headers with the heat shield and wrapped the rest of the tubing. There is a weight loss of 50 lbs.

Very cool!! How did he detail the 'Y' connection on the 355 Header?

I did not dyno the car because its not available in my area. I'll post a picture of the connection.

Sound clip? Would love to hear it!!

Sure! As soon as we get it back together I will film and post.

Looks like it will work very well, heat reduction etc, but why don't you just run the pipes down to the standard openings in the bumper and fabricate some tips? Unless you do something to the cutouts on the bumper won't it look a bid odd? The 430 Scud can get away with it due to the bumper design.

I thought the same thing, why not just run the pipes down to the standard opening. The orignal idea was to run the exhaust into a single exhaust pipe (see photo). We decided not to cut the rear opening of the car up and divide the exhaust into two pipes. I can keep the challenge grill somewhat intact.

I'll get a video together and post it. I get the car back this weekend. Maybe take it out on Sunday morning!Early!!! Wake up the neighbors!!!! What do you think????

    Nice looking grill!!!!

I don't want to cut into the carbon fiber bumper. CF will catch on fire. The metal grill will not.

If you drive that on the road, your neighbors will be calling the cops. That is way too loud and you wont be able to crack it open whenever or wherever you like. Good for track not road.

Looks good. I hope the exhaust tips are not 'solid' mounted to the rear frame section ....... the engine likes to move a little that is why the factory 'spring mounts' the stock exhaust. It may not break but vibrations may eventually crack the strap mount you have.

Maybe down the road you can do 'exhaust augmentation tubes' on the grill. Small piston aircraft use this to draw heat out of the engine compartment for better cooling. Come to think of it ...... the Scuderia uses this 'exhaust augmentation' design ....... check one out ...... :).

    That does look pretty good.

..Does anyone else here think the exhaust will want to move with the engine
a little and crack or bend that grill?

I wonder if ther'e's a work-around on this. You can't use a rubber type bushing
for the heat. Just a thought..

I'm glad to have left those unsilenced harleys and coffee can ricers back over there. Can't believe the Fcar community are going the same route.....you'd be off the road in a heartbeat over inthe UK
