I think you are talking about the one that was at the fall "big head" cruise. It has all the race decals and man did it sound sweet! They have posted here. Check that thread back in nov. or so. Steven- nice to see you thawed out.

That was me in Keene Yesterday. The car is one of the Hilfigher/Stroll Challenge cars from 95. OF COURSE..... this is the one that was driven by a novice driver and never saw any damage.....LOL!!! As the 95 and 96 Challenge cars were taken off the showroom floor, in some very very rare cases, it is possible to have the car re-titled. It's a ton of work and with documentation issues can be next to impossible (especially since guys like Boyd C and that guy in Alabama getting caught for changing titles recently) but can be done, if all the stars line up. and yes, there is nothing like straight pipes on an F-car, but after 3-4 hours my ears hurt a
just pulled it off the above referenced thread. I heard your car last fall, very nice backfire boom from the shift change. Hope to hear it sometime again. best sounding f-car i have ever heard in person.
(a) 1cerberus4u is one of my best friends, and bless his heart, he still can't spill the name of his wife's car correctly - it's from the Tommy Hilfiger racing team (no 'h'). (b) Only 1995 Challenge cars can be titled - OBD-II restrictions imposed in 1996 meant that FACTORY Challenge cars from that point were not street legal, as the factory shipped them PRE-BUILT in Italy (without some mandatory street equipment) AND used the OBD-I motors, as they generated more power than 1996+ US motors. 1995 cars were all street cars turned into Challenge cars by dealerships, using a factory kit. Those 1996+ factory challenge cars did not come delivered with a title. HOWEVER, if someone did take a 1996+ car and used a Challenge "kit" from a dealer to convert it into a Challenge car, then I guess it could be registered, but I don't know of any. (c) The picture of the car in this thread was taken in 1cerberus4u's driveway. He took it himself and posted it himself, and now that he's completely forgotten about it, he's curious to know how someone managed to take a picture of his wife's car in his driveway. In his defense, he's too busy prepping their racecars for a race at Lime Rock this weekend. vty, --Dennis
for anyone interested heres a few more pics of the car: http://anything-auto.net/EVENTS/CLUB_MEETS/Grand_Prix_Brazil_2004/3.html theres also a short video of it from the same event here: http://anything-auto.net/videos.html
Pretty cool. I used to live in Keene in the Chesterfield area, about 1/2 between downtown Keene and the expressway...Never saw any F-cars however...
I was sitting in my office and I heard that sound and said "that sounds like a 355 challenge car"...look out the window and there you go! I was at LRP in 95 when those cars were running. My wife talked to Mr Hilfiger in the DI shop. Nice guy. BigHead, whats going on at LRP this weekend? Did you go to NHIS with SCDA yesterday? I skipped it due to the rain.
This weekend at LRP is the annual PCA Club race, but due to the rain we have decided not to go. (spent 3 days in the rain there a couple of weeks ago and we just don't feel like standing in the rain for another 3 days) NHIS this weekend is the National SCCA race. if you are around, you should go.......there are 40 cars signed up in the group i typicallty race in which as a regional only draws 20 cars....if it's not racing it will be a great weekend a
Hi Andy, Any chance you and Laurie are going to the May TracQuest D.E. event at Watkins Glen again this year? Would love to go out and play tag in 355 Challenge Cars again! The event is on May 16 and 17. As I'm sure you know, BigHead Dennis is taking a pass on the event this year given the imminent arrival of child #2, but my son Alex (now home for the summer break) and I will both be there. Charlie
Charlie: yea we are planning on it, on our way home from the PCA race at Mid ohio, so i'm not sure if we will have the challenge car or just our race cars.......... btw, still have those lights?? a
That car is incredible. I had more fun driving behind it during the Brazilian GP meet than I have ever had in my car. It was funny to watch it driving through quiet neighborhoods with the racing exhaust. Ill bet it woke up some people that morning. Alex
Andy, Sent you an eMail also... great to hear you guys will be at the Glen on the 16th and 17th. And yes, I still have headlamp motors and lights taken off my car during the conversion to a Challenge car. Charlie
Is that a racing car in the parking lot? What a beautiful sight........ Image Unavailable, Please Login
