Hi Jason, Beautiful F355 Challenge! Let Rocco help you get your Challenge car registered for street use. Barry
Hello Barry, Rocco was trying to help me get the car registered, but unfortunately they lost Denise who was the one in the office that helped with these situations. He told me he may know someone else that may be able to help, but he also suggested that I put a post on FChat to see if someone else has already done this with another Challenge car. Thanks, Jason
Hi Jason, I’m not sure if I can be of any help but, I will give you my story; I owned a 1997 factory built 355ch that I bought on a bill of sale(never had a title)in 2004. I was able get a title and registration for the car in Montana, I lived there at the time. There were a few hoops to jump through but it was fairly simple. With your car having a “Euro” serial number, it probably has a B in its serial number sequence, it may throw a red flag to any county DMV office; mine had a North American serial number so that part wasn’t a potential problem for my car. Anyway with that said if you want to know the process I went through PM me and I can explain to you what I did.
Hello Llenroc, Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear someone was able to get a replacement title and plates for a F355 Challenge. However, like you said, my car has a Euro Vin and is not recognized by any DMV in the USA. I don’t know if there is any avenue to get it registered now that it falls into the over 25 year old rule? It was already imported as a race car and I don’t have any of the original importation paperwork. I was hoping not to have to sell it to someone overseas and then re-import the car. Thanks, Jason
Hi Jason, My 355ch never had a title; it had been sold on a bill of sale since new; all factory built, ‘97-‘98, 355s were that way since they were intended to be raced only. Montana didn’t seem to care that it didn’t have a title; the main thing they wanted proof of is that it wasn’t stolen or had a lien against it. How they handled that was to have my insurance company do a 3 year insurance bond to insure that ownership was not to be contested by someone other than who was on the “bonded title” that they issued to me. After the 3 years was up they issued a standard title to me. Also had to do a title search in the states that resided, in my case just CA and MT.
