I thought that I had read some where that the egine ECUs on the challenge cars had been reprogrammed to change some of the perameters of engine management. I can't find in my infomation where I read this. Does anyone out there know about this? if so what was changed. thanks

I bought Challenge chips for my computer from AutoSmith racing a few years ago. It changed timing and fuel and increased the rev limiter to 9000rpm.
It was used on their challenge car. Car has more power midrange.

Have you got dyno graphs to verify this?

F355Bob, thanks for your info. Do you know if these were factory chips or something they had done? I'm trying to compile historical information on these cars is the reason I'm asking. Did yours come in Ferraris famous yellow packaging? I have the parts book on the 97 and 99 challenge cars and they do not show a part no. for them but I did understand that they all had this different chip. again thanks for your time.

I don't know if it was factory or they did it. It was in one of their challenge cars. I don't have a dyno sheet to verify it, but driving a stock F355 and then mine, it has more midrange. I also have the GruppeM intake. A local dyno has opened up near me so I am going to dyno it this summer. I'll post results. I had a chip from TWS(?) the company that advertises in the Ferrari newsletter and I did not notice any difference in the car at all except the rev limiter was increased. I can feel the difference in the Challenge chip.
