    I just had the check engine light come on my 95' 355 the other day. Besides the car slowing down (which is what usually happens) I noticed the RPM's going up just as if I was laying on the gas pedal? The car was not even in gear when this happened so it was really strange. Any suggestions on what this could be before I take it in?

    Wouldn't a vacuum leak produce both of these results?

    First thing to do would be to read the codes on the ECUs that would tell you why the light is coming on.
