Have it on my m2.7.....i swapped out the original which is pretty poorly made for a carbon fibre one.

This shield scoops incoming air into the pumpkin area and acts as a heat shield between the rear of the pumpkin and the exhaust silencer....the back of which gets pretty hot.

This acts both as an air scoop and heat shield.
I beleve was standard fittment for all challenge race cars cars.

My early build (Oct.'94) 1995 has it. No indication as to whether it was as delivered or added be one of the first two owners.

Yes it came on the factory built CH cars and was also part of the conversion kit that dealers installed. However the CH shield is different than the one used on the street F355.

It really does help keep the clutch cooled down especially when the clutch housing cover is drilled.

    Nice parts diagram.....

My carbon fibre shield is shaped just like the one drawn here.
I riveted on some heatshield protective sheeting as the carbon fibre was showing scorch marks from the silencer.

I always prefer carbon fiber as an insulator from heat as it is pretty neutral when it comes to conductivity.....the added heat-shield material is icing on the cake..lol

When i bought the carbon fibre shield there was some heat protection fabric glued to the shield casing.

Over time heat melted the adhesive to a runny mess and the heat fabric had decayed to a grey slush.

Gets hot there...this is why i riveted on the heat shield material and not glued.

I thought a carbon one would look nice also. Thanks guys what threw me was them calling it an insulator and I'm thinking why the hell would you want to keep your clutch hot. Then I saw the ones with the scoop and I'm thinking the factory wants to keep it hot by insulating it and someone else figured its better to scoop air in for cooling. My thought was the cooling effect would be much better and now I have my answer.

Where did you get your carbon heat shield?

I knew you were going to ask....

    And i really cannot remember....

I know i bought the clutch shield together with a pair of rear diffusers in carbon fibre.
All items are very well made.

I'll check my paperwork and let you know if i find out.
