Has anyone got dyno readings to prove that it will work?

I've read somewhere that it can damage the engine long term???

The reason I'm asking is that I have the option to have 355 plenums grafted onto my 348 engine. This will raise the engine height, but as I'm having the car respsrayed I can have a power bulge put on the engine lid. I've seen Dave's (group77racing) lid and think it works well.

Well I helped Plugzit put the 355 ITB's on his 348. Though he doesn't have dyno specs yet he did say that it does feel quicker. You will have to have a mounting bracket made in order to be able to fit the 355 ITB's onto your heads, the bolt patterns don't line up. Plugzit had his made out of aluminum. Though his problem has been properly tuning the car to be able to get all the power from the extra air provided by the 355 ITB's. Plugzit's 348 is running the 2.5 Motronic though.

Andy's ITB set up in the bee's knees! I know Andy is running an after market ECU, and that his fuel maps are based on throttle position, but I don't remember what after market ECU he is running, and he did put in a lot of tuning time. He also has a bunch of other things, like a NOS set up. The boy's engine is plain 'ol badass.

I REALLY like Group77's plenums. If my memory serves me correct he is still running the 2.7 with larger MAFS, some better flowing injectors, larger throttle bodies, and some other goodies. I would be nice if the magician would let us know how to perform his trick. :D But until then we will all just have to drool over his set up.

    Thanks ernie.

I know someone who has put 355 throttle bodies on a 348 and got a 60bhp increase. They also changed the ECU's.

The car itself is running good so I'm very tempted to have it done and perhaps have a BMC filter added on to it as well to boost the airflow.

Even if I get 40bhp, I'm looking at around 380bhp on my 348. The only downside is the modification of the engine lid as I want the 355 plenums rather than leave the throttle bodies exposed liek Andy has. I'm going to get a full price for the modification next week and will decide then.

Also, here's a scan of what Imola are proposing. According to them, 372bhp is possible from a late 348 (base 320bhp) althoug they increase teh revs to 8,750rpm!!!!

Yeah but how much are they gonna charge for the chips???

I talked to the guys at Dimex and if I remember correct it was something like $2500 for a set of chips. They had one set that they took the rev limiter to 8750!!! I think the hp rating was something like 365hp (if I rememebr correctly) for that particular tuning? The thing that worries me is if the stock valve springs can handle that rpm. The last thing you need is to float a valve, or worse drop a valve due to the higher rpm = a new engine.

I'm guessing that Dimex and Imola are one and the same????

There are many claims but no dyno numbers. Goth and Vince tried by using spacer plates I think and hogging out the TB but the HP/torque gains were not worth the work IIRC. They keep playing so hopefully they will come up with the magic bullet.

    Yep, they are the same.

The car was tested on a rolling road. They did a before and after test and got the 60bhp.

I'll get more info very soon.
