I have one of the first 1995, 355 spiders and all of a sudden it quit. It will crank, but won't start. It happened once, then it was OK for a few times until yesterday, it started for 10 seconds and then shut off. I let it sit for a while and tried again, this time nothing and it's hasn't started since. I was thinking of making it a planter in my front yard, unless someone can help.

Please, I live a long way from a service center.

go to autoparts store for some starter fluiid. use it and report back your results. then we can move on unless you like trial and error. Obviously make sure the deckld is latched, battery charged all the dumb stuff

Sounds like it might be a fuel pump issue. Shoot some starting fluid up the intake and see if it starts. If it does then dies, it's a fuel related issue. Gook luck.

    Hi,

A buddy just had the same symptoms on his 355 - Was running great but suddenly it spins over wonderfully, but never lights the fires. They were starting to suspect a timing issue it was so bad - Then they shoved a sniffer up the tail pipe and all it could smell was raw fuel - "what the hell, change the plugs" - They did and all was *immediately* well with the world.

    May be worth a try......

EDIT: I'd still give FBB's suggestion a try first.

Then try the starter fluid as suggested above. Spray some into your air intakes and see if she starts (and if so, how long she runs before dying again).

I got it running!!!! If anyone has this problem, check the relays on the pass seat side. Fuel inj. relays were out. I replaced all of them for about $9.00 each. It's running fine for now, everyday is an adventure with a Ferrari. Thanks for all the advice.

I have similar starting problems but keeps running after starting. What do you mean by relays were out? How do you check? Also where did you buy for $9 each? Are they Bosch? Which relays did you change out?

I'm very frustrated after spending $500 changing a fuel pump.

Auto zone has a match. The relays are in the fuse box in the car on the Pass. side. I changed 4 with the same number BOSCH 0332014140.
NEW MATCH Duralast 19273 MR76. The old ones are silver, the new ones are black.

Take the old ones to the store and make sure the dia. on the side of the relay is the same. You'll see the 4 that have this number. 3 are in the top row and one is down the right side of the box. Good or bad, I changed them all. The only thing I'm not sure of is what caused them to go out. I haven't gone toooooo far from the house yet, just don't trust it. Good luck. Everyday is an adventure with a Ferrari.

Auto Zone.. Part Number - Duralast 19273 MR76. The old ones were BOSCH 0332014140. There are 4 with this number in the Pass. side fuse box, 3 are on the top row and 1 is on the right side. BOSCH are silver, the new ones are black. Take them with you and make sure the Dia. on the side match.

    Good luck.
