For awhile now, my brother has been looking into getting a 355. He currently works and lives in Bahrain. There is one on the market, a 95 giallo GTS. We went to check it out in person, test drive not available, but it looked very clean. Low kms, service history etc.

The big concern is the maintanince issue. My brother is quite well known around these parts for his garage work, as a hobby we are part of a group of British garagists with a full garage and tools at our disposable. I'm talking pits, engine hoists and so on. He has been maintaining and racing one of the few Rx7s in the country (he owns 3 all different generations), working on Skyline GTRs, Pontiac GTOs, EVOs and whole array of assorted cars....He beleives it would be possible to maintain a 355 completely on his own. . Needing only access to a technical forum where questions can be asked. Is this reasonable. Is this feasible? I mean obtaining parts off the net and so is easier then ever...I am leaning towards that fact that it would be very possible....what about you guys?

I am not a professioal mechanic but have done my own service work on my cars for years. You can do it yourself and this forum is a good place for help. I just finished my engine out service on my 355 about a month ago. To name a few helpful and knowledgeable guys listen to Rifledriver, Dave Helms, Ferrarifixer there are others also. One thing to remember on 355s is that you do not pull the engine out you drop it out (you mentioned a pit and engine hoist). You need a fork style lift to do it easily. Regards, Vern
