Having a small issue, and wonder if anyone else has had this issue... My console lock switch and unlock will not operate the door locks. The lock switch will make a clicking noise inside the floor fuse panel though... The unlock is dead. I can tell someone has been in the console before to replace other switches. When I put the key in each door the locks operate freely individually. I cleaned the contacts with cleaner. I also replaced the 10amp door lock fuse. The clicking happens when I hit the console lock switch or if I turn the key in the driver door only. First off, looking at my pic are the plugs on the correct switches? Secondly, does anybody think the switches may be junk, causing the clicking sound in the fuse box? Im lost. Eric

Not sure this is your issue, however, a door is only partially latched, the locks kick out. You hear the click followed by a second click basically saying no-go

So both doors have to be completely closed and latched for the lock button to even operate Dave?

There is a first latch position and then a second. On the first, the door will not open but it will be about 1/4 inch from fully closed. If you try and lock, it will kick back.

Well, if you use the key to lock or unlock, it should do both at the same time. Don' think it's a partial open door issue.

They lock individually just like a 1968 mopar.. But they both wont go down with just the driver lock. Still getting that relay like clicking though... and of course the console switch is still non functional too...

Was there anything that led up to this? Was it working correctly before? The clicking noise you hear is the central locking controller. It should click anytime you push the buttons on the center console or pull one of the door locks pulls or key. You might want to investigate that controller. It should be behind the fuse panel on the pass side. Also, not sure about the wiring on a 355 but 348s have an issue with wiring at the connection point for the doors. Where the hinges are at, there is a cannon plug that gets corrosion in it.

George, I just aquired the car so I dont know how long they have been non functional. I fixed the top, and the door locks were the only other small issue. Im going to try and find that controller behind the fuse box. BTW, the boots in the door jambs over the wiring harnesses look original and not ripped or monkeyed with...

You say it clicks when you press lock. Get in your car, lock the doors, then press the unlock switch. Bet you will here it click again. It senses the doors are unlocked, so it activates the lock button. If you lock them manually, it will sense the doors are locked and activate the unlock switch. I hope this makes sense! :)

Hey Eric, on those connectors at the door jam, the corrosion is inside and hard to see. On the 348, it just twist and unplugs. just look for corrosion inside. Pretty simple really and could be your problem. There are several threads on it.

That's the best part about this site, more than likely, someone has had this problem before.

    Any luck yet?

No corrosion problem in the door jambs.. They looked great. I found the central locking relay part 178720. Ive got one coming from Ferrparts, that's got to be it.. Everything else is functioning. Studying the wiring diagrams, that relay is the brain between the lock/unlock switches and the lock actuators in each door.. At this point I think I have good switches. I gotta start somewhere.. LOL This thread shows my trouble maker. I think...https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/356676-loose-cables-footwell.html

I as thinking that the controller was an issue myself but figured it would be best to check everything else 1st. Hopefully that will fix your problem..

Well, little update, I know how everybody hates that a thread disappears without a solution. I traced the wiring back and found that I had a faulty relay between the door lock switch and the actuator in the door. For $72 and a lot of investigating, everything works perfect now. Thanks George and everyone else... I love this site!! Eric

Thank you for the update. It is only when the solution is presented that we gain information.

Last little note.. Ive learned that if all you are getting is a series of 3 clicks at the passenger foot fuse panel when you hit the lock/unlock console switches... then just replace that relay and game over ... Eric
