Is it possible to put the left side ecu on the right side and the right on the left on a 355 motronic 2.7 EURO.
Too is it possible to add the 2 wires on this ecu that the euro type doesnt have and the usa type have for the codes reading on the dash board ?
Because my bypass problem is due to ecu.

    many thanks
    nico

Well I'm not sure about the 355 but I've done it on my 348 in the past. However you will need to let the ecu's relearn the warm up parameters. NoDout would know better than me, as he has REALLY dug into the 2.7 ecu's.

M2.7 ecus are identical in hardware, software, and wiring (except that one ecu will be used to provide tach/speedo translations, etc.).

Yes, you can swap them from left side to right side and vice-versa.

I am really not sure about that.
Just an example, pin #21 of ECU5/8 controls the exhaust valve, but pin #21 of ECU1/4 controls air injection in the exhaust. That means that internal S/W is not same and that ECU cannot be exchanged from side to side. Probably the engine will start and run fine but auxilliary devices will not be commanded properly.
They most probably can be exchanged IF the internal EPROM are also swapped.

Sounds like a good thing to know about M2.7 for 355's.

I should have said that M2.7 for 348's are identical, as that's what I've studied.

I could verify the above for 355's by scanning in the left and right EPROMs for a 355's M2.7 if anyone wants to mail me those chips.

Finaly my problem in interesting ! I will not swap ecu .
Will try to put the manual diagnostic system that the 355 USA have and not the european model.
Will maybe find a code like this !
    thanks

You can swap ECUs from side to the other they are identical. The exhaust valve and the air pump are controlled by other sensors along with the ECUs.

I have done the code reading (self diagnosis)like explained in the tech manual (thanks Eric)
I dont know yet if the valve work better now but I found a code 1123 (solenoid valve relay) that could explain my problem of valve.
But on all documents i have I can not find this relay...do you know where it is ?
    Thanks for help

If you've got the part number I can show you with a diagram.

    Hello ne doubt
The problem is that with the list of electrical components I can not find this relay !(1123 code) so I dont know if it exist or if this solenoid valve relay is something called differently on the documents.
On the relay list of the car I did not find it too.
Strange ?! I think this is in relation with the air pump or bypas exhaust valve but that is all....
    thanks
    nico

I'd think that's related to your exhaust air pump for emissions.

Indeed they are identical, there is only 1 part number for both ECU.
So, in order to run 2 different functionalities on the same pin, they should have the capability to detect on which bank they are affected (harness coding?) to run each the proper piece of software ... or the electrical diagram is wrong :) ??
