Can't afford to get the dog back...maybe it's a good thing because with us both eating out of the same bowl it was getting a little too competitive..lol
Bruce the CH tranny is for the project car here at the shop.....if you are wanting a 6spd for your car I will keep an eye out......I've got an almost new(2,100miles) one coming into the shop at the end of May but it may be more than what you want to pay.

Hope you are sitting down.....just the aluminum case(front plate, main housing w/mounting wings and side cover, and clutch housing cover) from Ferrari is $9,000.00+, and that is the cheap stuff....all the internals including flywheel, clutch and pressure plate is even more!!!!!!.......I do not see a complete gearbox in my parts pricing(maybe Daniel at Ricambi can look up), but I would gestimate $20,000+...wow.
Even though you don't hear much about gearbox problems never the less if you have them it can be pretty expensive to repair......very labor intensive and parts are outrageous.
I have been around for a long time and unless you really hunt, gearboxes are not normally offered for sale on any of the salvage yard websites.....and I don't think I've ever seen one on eBay...with the exception of the CH one last week which I bought.
So what is a used low mileage complete gearbox worth????......don't have a clue.....but considering that replacing a bent shift fork, one bad gear, or shaft bearing could possibly run into the thousands, a good used one ought to be worth a decent price. Hopefully some of the brothers here can post repair cost to their tranny, and I know that there has been atleast 1 person that has bought a 355 gearbox to convert a 348 to a 6spd...at what cost??

Nope GB's in these cars are cheap and easy to rebuild. Several of us have done it. I was probably the first. I've done about 6 GB's. Usually it is a couple grand for parts. Personally I would not buy a used GB/motor combo for anymore than about 4k. That's right 4k. There are guys selling GB's for 12k and rebuilding for 17k! I have seen just motors for 6-12k including 355's. These guys all want blood money. If you want a GB tomorrow it is going to cost you. If you buy it just for the heck of it when you see one they are cheap.

FBB, great info, thanks....I have never rebuilt a Ferrari gearbox simply because it had too many parts(lol) and I had no skill(duh), therefore I stuck to rebuilding engines only....... my comments about the gearbox were based on what most of the shops normally charge for labor and pricing new parts from Ferrari, which by the way are expensive as you know...just the clutch cover housing to replace my busted one was around $1,300(part only). You are right about the blood money..if you need it now it will cost you.....but for those doing a project car or just wanting a spare I am sure that patience will reward them with a great price.
