Has any one changed out the 355 Exahust tips for a slightly larger and longer look ? Am considering Borla tips, however stock tips are welded on...to the stock exhaust. The stock tips are a bit understated. Also not certain of intake size diameter in order to properly size the replacements. Many thanks for any guidance on. (99 355 F1)
I was considereing modifying my Capristo to have bigger tips but the biggest issue is clearance with the rear bumper. I hate that my Ferrari tips look anemic next to my M5 tips.
Yes, clearance with rear bumper opening is an issue if going with larger tips, however the solution is to extend the outletpipe so that the tips mount just outside of the carve out. This positioning with larger tips would look great. The 355 tips are certainly anemic.
The Fabspeed system has a v-band removable tip section, I don't understand with the factory didn't do this! What happens if you're rear ended and just the tip is bent? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agree. Can the exhaust piping that the tips mount to be made slightly longer or extended to accommodate a larger tip ? Such as a 3 inch diameter Borla Stainless tip ? Goal is to be able to expose the full tip beyond the bumper cut out, to avoid larger tip being right up against bumper cut out. Have not seen a single 355 with larger tips. Fabspeed should offer them. I would buy the whole unit if it had a bit longer pipes with larger tips. The 355 tips look anemic because they are not only small, but do not extend out beyond the bumper enough...
I love Fabspeed. Im looking for a '95 355. Fabspeed SS with test pipes will have to be installed when I find the car. My Diablo sounds so f*k'n MEAN and flames spew out on the over rev... Good job boys.
The Challenge muffler tips on my F355 CH are similar to the stock tips. Sometimes "understated" looks (and sounds) just fine... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful car .... Agree a bit understated is ok, however the 355 tips are just not proportional to the car, especially given the horsepower. Perhaps if they extended out a bit further, that would help... Curious to know if the Fabspeed exhaust option would allow for this extension with slightly larger tips ?
Here is a photo of the tips that come included with our Supersport X-pipe. The tips being a v-band connection opens up a number of possibilities for custom tips. You can use our v-band connection, with the correct angle to get to the cutout in the bumper, then weld a custom set of extensions/tips that suit your taste. Personally I think the Fabspeed tips fill out the bumper cutout just right and are truly an OEM+ upgrade that only true enthusiasts would notice. Nothing too gaudy or outlandish but still a great upgrade over stock. Red Car is Stock Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looking for a 95, eh? Sitting in my Challenge got you hooked? Maybe this summer we can exchange some seat time - you in the Challenge and me in the Diablo.
I owned a yellow '95 Berlinetta 8 years ago. Tubi w/ test pipes. I just miss that car and always regret selling it. When I fell into your challenge seats I didn't want get out. Why didn't Ferrari make them standard on all 355s? To me the 355 is still the best Ferrari ever to come out of the factory. Ok we'll exchange seat time, but don't blame me when your wife gets mad at you for finding a Lambo in your garage. Lol.
