355 F1 -- has anyone installed an oil temperature gauge?

As we know, since the F1 version of the 355 required consumption of one of the gauges for transmission display, our good Italian friends decided to dump the oil temperature gauge on the center console in favor of keeping the clock...

So I am wondering if anyone has installed or attempted to install a gauge for oil temperature on the 355F1. I personally would rather have an oil temperature gauge than a silly clock that never keeps the correct time. Oil pressure is probably not an indicator that ought to be dropped...

I spoke with a good friend of ours in the community and we were only able to hypothesize that it could be done. Apparently, the wiring harness for the center console of the non-F1 355 is different than the wiring harness for the 355F1. However, we hypothesized that the oil temperature sender would still be hanging around (unused) behind the center console of an F1 car.

    Any thoughts?

my only thought is....good idea! clock is useless, loses time every season anyway when I hit the battery off switch.

My clock holds correct time......but an oil temp gauge is far cooler than a clock.

Would be a good mod, wiring is easy even of not present on the factory harness....sender should be simple, factory parts should fit and work.

No use to me however, mine has the oil temp gauge, and 3 pedals....

oh jeez, I see this coming up in the next F1 vs. 3 pedal thread...who ever would buy a car without an oil temp gage! :D

ok now I'm thinking...just for fun, maybe an engine bay air temp gage (or air box temp gage). That would be interesting to see how bad the heat soak is at different ambient temps or if idling for a long time...

+1 on engine bay temp & airbox temp, be interesting data to be able to see, hard to do without making the car look "ricer" inside though. (imagine a 355 with 10 nasty gauges screwed all over the dash, and a couple outside on the bonnet for good measure)

It is interesting this sort of stuff is not done more on Ferrari's, when I was in the Porsche scene there were plenty of guys doing mods like these.....
