    I have been working on my F1 control panel and Just wondering if anyone knows what this is really made out of.

    Now Most people would assume this panel is just aluminum, but its weight makes me think its pot metal that has been painted or coated to look aluminum.


    Around the switches it appeared Green like copper corrosion.

    I got this apart the other day cleaned it up slightly, I think what I am seeing is most likely from Soda being spilled on it, as I know people still drink in their Ferrari yet we have no cup holders.

    Anyhow anyone have similar looking panel?


    I will weight this and compare to some real aluminum and post the results.

    I can't tell you what the material is but the two 355 F1's I have access to have slight green corrosion inside the button seams of the auto and ice mode buttons.

    water sand it and respray......will be good as new

    Yeah I mean is it aluminum with a clear coat or aluminum paint or what?
    And you mean wet sanding it.

    I haven't taken any solvents to it yet.
