Hi guys. Yesterday was a sunny day in DK, and I took a ride in my 355 F1 Spider - but couldn't get the roof down. After having made the normal procedure with handbrake, brakepedal, windows down (to be sure the roof didn't scrath them) - the roof just said BEEP..... and nothing happened - couldn't even close it again electrically. Any suggestions on what do to - and what can be wrong? Thanks!
Sorry Bo, There is an overide switch for the roof system, you need to look for a circular leather cover about 20mm diameter on the side of the centre console which runs up between the seats. This cover pulls out (very tight) and connected to it is the up and down swtches. There is a diagram in the owners manual or do a search, I've seen the pics on here ......
They didn't WAAAAAY over engineer the top did they???? Nahhhhh, not at all. Seats moving, brakes set, windows moving down, satellites linking up, I hear it works better if you swing chicken bones in a pair of panty hose over your head as you sing a song by Sting.....just something I heard.....not sure if a song by The Police would work as well. Sorry, do I sound like someone who has had a problem or two with his top??? Sorry, his FREAKING top...
Major problem with my top also, duh I wired the overide switch into the console I just have to do the windows and seats manual, which really is easier than fighting the ecu
Next thing I would check is the hydraulc oil level in the reservoir. When it is empty the top will not open or close. It is very simple and inexpensive to check and refill yourself. I am providing a link I have saved. Hope it helps. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136278178&postcount=25
Do it before you damage the hydraulic rams! Previous owner did that on my car...a very expensive lesson he learned. I check the fluid every 18 months, and top it up. If I fill to max, it will be about 1 cm below that...so still above the half way point. Very random, some cars rarely lose fluid, others much more so....might be related to how much you operate the top?
