Could anyone shed light on this strange occurance? Tried to unlock car to get out of garage but the doors wouldn't open with the fob. Opened with the key but that caused the alarm to sound, eventually turned it off with the fob. I then tried to start the car but it reacted as though the battery was flat, never any problems with this as I do use it regularly. I rolled it out of garage and jumped it off another vehicle, used the contact points under right shield. I then started the car, everything was fine, engaged first with no problem moved car forward but when I came to select neutral nothing happens but the F1 light constantly flashes. The fluid was low so I filled to correct level, this never made any difference. I have searched threads relating to this problem so presume problem is either the relay or the pump is on the way out. Does it seem coincidental that these other problems occured? Help appreciated.
First thing I'd do is double check that hood and engine compartment are securely closed. If they are not the car will not start or I've even seen them knock you out of gear.
My guess is battery is low. Possibly alternator not working great and you did not notice when last parked. Charge on charger for a couple hours then start. Let us know what happened.
Thanks for the suggestions. Recharged the battery, changed the relay for the upgraded Tyco item, still no change!(BMW item 6136-1393403 £19) I have checked the fluid level and now it's almost to the brim? I can feel the pump pressurising for 7 seconds then goes off for 10 seconds, this repeats over and over. Should I disconnect the battery at the terminal? Sounds like the computer has really confused itself.
