355 factory muffler

    I'm trying to remove my factory muffler on a 95 F355. I have all the bolts and clamps removed. The muffler is loose, but I can't seem to angle it past the cat tubes, if I lean it toward the rear the exhaust tips hit, toward the front the cat pipes hit. I have been "told" you can sneak the muffler out the engine compartment, has anyone else succesfully accomplished this?

    Did you remove the rear bumper?

    no, rear bumper in place, I was "told" it could be done without.

    You need to remove the rear bumper. This is expierience speaking.

    Must have been by the same mechanic who told me he could change the cam belts through the cover behind the rear seats..

    Michael,
    I helped install my Tubi muffler and we removed the rear bumber. I would imagine that it would take quite a bit of more work to do the remove and install compared to just removing the bumper. Below are a few pictures of the view of the mufflers without bumper:
