    I understand the sentiment, but the discharge time of a 2.5# unit (shown) is 10 seconds. What would you do if your extinguisher ran out at 7 seconds, but the fire was still burning?


    (Me? I'd run like hell and hope it burns to a pile of cinders)


    Finally, if you're going to use an extinguisher, for the love of God, don't use a dry powder. Use real Halon or (second best) Halotron.

    $130 and mounts in your engine compartment. Automatically activates because a fire melts its PVC casing, releasing the pressurized anti-fire-gel.

    I've got one under the engine bonnet of my 348.

    I've also got a hand held ABC extinguisher behind the passenger seat.

    Immolation is a bad way to go. I vote no. Twice.
