Okay, i know this has been discussed before but i got stopped for no front plate a few days ago, i called FNA and they sent me a bracket!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i cant even start to discribe this $115 P.O.S mindblowing that anybody would think you would use this and mount the bracket smack bang in the middle of the front of the grill covering the Chrome horse............so has anybody had to put on a front plate? if so can you post a photo etc.

WHY THE F#%K would he even care? No drug dealers work on Friday before July 4th weekend? do criminals take july 4th weekend off? maybe hes just such a great cop and wanted to let me know how alert he is!!!

How many f355 onwers on this site have a front plate?
i wonder what the % is....................
thank you, Mr,Pissed off big time.

P.s VERY GOOD CHANCE I DONT PUT ONE ON, BUT I CANT DEAL WITH BEING STOPPED EVERYTIME I GO OUT.

I don't have mine yet. But, I'm looking into the best way to solve the problem. In the mean time, I'm just placing the plate in the front windshield.

Only one person out of the majority of the NYTS crew that hang together has a front license plate. None of us have ever gotten stopped. Consider yourself unlucky. Don't worry about it. A US-style front license plate looks lame on a 355.

It's a shame; I think the painted on/sticker ones on some euro cars look good!

Actually, slight correction -- the cops guarding the Queens Midtown tunnel are bored and *****y, and Emil and I got stopped and warned on the way out to the Hamptons this past weekend.

Generally, however, I've had no problems. However, those tunnel cops have stopped me 2 out of the last 3 times I've gone through.

    So just note that...

After reading many posts regarding this issue, it appears the police are getting serious about this issue. Whether it's to pad the police fund or they are seriously concerned after 9/11 I don't know, but it's an issue that is here to stay and is getting worse. That said, I passed a State police officer the other day on a sunny day, wide open back road, and thought for sure he was going to turn around. Just as I got confident that he wasn't, a county police car passed me, then about half mile later a city officer passed. None of them seemed to care - so still lucky for now.

Avoid having to put one on if you can...it looks pants.

Edited to say i've seen a motor bike style and size one on a UK car & it looks much better than the full size version. Is this an option for you?

    Eric,
call me mad but that doesn't look much different ! The one i've seen is the same size as the rear plate on a bike .... Again, not sure on legality of that.

Tony, apparently mine is a motorbike sized plate, we compared it to a normal size plate when I was down at Verdi's and it was a fair bit smaller. Kind of difficult to tell from the picture.

Ive had a few of these types of situations.

Just get yourself some duct tape and a metal L or T. Bend the bracket so it will hang off the bumper below the grill, pad it, and screw the plate to the T, then loop the duct tape or get doublesided tape and tape it temporarily to the bumper. stick it on right before you get to the sheriff office, back your car in so they see it from a distance and your set. They only look at it. They dont actually shake it or anything. Be creative

    Couple of options I'd try.

    1) Put a license plate on your FNA bracket. Turn it upside down and slide down the street on it (like a skateboard). Put it behind the passenger seat and if you get stopped, say "it fell off occifer and I'll fix it back on as soon as I get home". A couple of old pieces of sticky tape on the front valance adds credibility to this yarn.

    2) Try a PVC stick on type. I have one in the UK and think it's a good alternative to the massive plastic affairs we have, the original of which on mine did come off at great speed and I couldn't return to pick it up. I would have thought it easy to get a US style one done and stuck on.

Sadly these cars attract attention from bored officers of the law it would seem. In the UK they are getting more and more tetchy about this, which coincides with the introduction of more and more forward facing speed cameras turning up on our roads.

My front plate went missing on a run out recently, replaced it with a stick on one - looks OK to the eye (and coppers) but I doubt wether it will be detectable my the cameras - it's curved.
