Well ... if this 355 has 100K miles, I think is kind of acceptable to have such a transmission failure, let's not forget ... these cars are good performers and they surely push.

You have to remove the 2 outer bearings from both the main and lay shafts, and then the intermediate plate will come off. Try banging on the intermediate plate with a wooden mallet to loosen it up from the case.

enrie thank you very much for the Tip. I wait for some tools next week and ill start working.

I will change onlý the Bearings,l dont think that any synchron ring need to be changed because even with the problem the car was shifting just fine.

The only thing l can guess l did wrong is that l didnt change the clutch as soon as l wanted and perhaps the Bearings didnt like it.My clutch has over 50000 miles on it:eek:

I will keep you Updated guys
    thank you very much!

Well- I think a clutch with 50K on it and a tranny with over 100K on it.. Kind of the very definition of "bulletproof".. ain't it?

The outer bearings should come off with the intermediate plate. Try using a plastic wedge between the case and the plate.

Make sure you FULLY flush out the gear box case. You do not want to chance any metal bits from the bearing cage getting in between the gears, ESPECIALLY the ring and pinion gears. Those only come in a set and are BIG MONEY.

Well as the car is in Germany, is it 50K miles or more likely 50,000 kilometres??
    Slight difference!

    Regards,
    Phil.

No no no, in kilometres is about 85.000 km and the car has exactly 158.700 km.

Im writing Miles for the others to understand!

That's right! Put that in your 3-4-8 pipe and smoke it!

I am just kidding, of course ;) And now that I have cursed the gods of reliability I will surely suffer a well-deserved catastrophe. But I couldn't help myself.
