Greetings and Merry Christmas! I just acquired my second Ferrari, a 1999 Giallo/Black 355 F1 GTS. The car will be a stablemate to my 2002 360 Spider. I’ll be restoring the car interior back to its original condition over the next few months. A couple questions for the group- does anyone have experience with World Upholstery in California? I’ve had a great experience with them on my BMW M3 interior leather in the past, just curious on the Connelly leather for Ferrari. Looking for recommendations for sticky button replacement, too. I’ve heard of stickyRX and sticky no more- any insight with either of these companies is appreciated. I look forward to being involved with the group! Thanks in advance!
Waiting for the car to arrive from the west coast. It should be here by next weekend! Here’s a pic. It’s going to be a long week, LOL! Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ahuh the one from BaT..that one will need a full interior redo, but if you got it at the rite price who cares. Congrats
Shop in LA has high quality italian leather i've used before, they did my 550 dashboard - I'm not doing entire interior on the 355, just the dash & airbag the rest is fine, but the OP here will need to most likely do almost everything including the seats and door cards on that yellow 355.
Huge Congrats! Sounds awesome! Granted I am a bit partial to Giallo/Black 355 GTSs since I an fortunate enough to own one No experience with upholsters in Cali - can speak highly of Autoweave in Colorado but that's probably not much help. Sticky-No-More has a great reputation and I believe is an FChat Sponsor/Member so can't go wrong there. Send Pics when you get her - Excited for you - Cheers
Awesome and congrats! I am sure you are excited and should be! As mentioned/known I am partial to Giallo 355s Yours looks great and I am sure the interior refurb will be a fun project and allowed you to get the car at what appears to be a great price - Enjoy!
close enough to where i don't notice a difference, new leather will alway be less shiny and more Matte than used aged leather, but if you add leather honey product it will shine it up nice
You can also bring back the original matte finish of the leather with Leatherique. I’m currently on the hunt for a source for the best matching leather for our cars.
The plan is redoing all of the interior leather with new as well as fixing the stickies. All of the new leather is from the same dye lot, hoping it matches perfectly! I went and drove the car prior to purchase, it runs well. Will post updates as it goes. Happy New Year all!
If anyone has a line on an OEM radio, I'll need one. Planning on pulling out the aftermarket garbage that's in the car now. I know, the radio is behind my head! Just like to have it all OEM with electrical stuff.
look for a Ferrari Becker out of a 360 , they are period correct and look good in the car plus you can outfit them with bluetooth, prices are around $400 for those as opposed to the Sony one which people are asking $2K for and its a terrible radio.
Congrats on the car. When you find a shop that can redo the interior in Michigan you let me know. I had my 355 sticky bits done by Sticky Rx wouldn't do them any other way.
355 F1 GTS update: After 8 long months, my 355 is finally ready for the road! When purchased, I planned on quite a bit of deferred maintenance and an interior restoration. I plan to drive and enjoy the car along with my 360 spider. Below is a list of items completed to get it ready. Expected items addressed: Complete teardown and replacement of all leather interior surfaces Engine out major service completed New radiators (leaking coolant after sitting for a few days) New AC Compressor (AC was INOP) New tires installed Installed challenge grille Sticky buttons fixed Additional items addressed: Replaced inner tail lamps (melted due to age/heat) New Battery New alarm siren New Clutch- figured now vs. next year or so, given clutch read-out at time major was being done F1 system rebuild- Began to act up after picking up from interior restoration. Would shift to neutral on its own and skip gears 2,4,6 occasionally. Best course of action was to have whole system gone through and rebuilt New F1 TCU installed (wouldn't self-learn after new F1 components installed) All in all, worth the wait cost and effort to bring back to her former glory! Cheers!
