Agreed about the 308 design. ^^^ Love seeing that 355 go so high. Except that now, if they all follow, I'll never be able to own one.
Actually, the 308 is a wedge-shaped Dino. It technically was a Dino. I had a 308, and I loved it. A Honda Accord would beat it out of a light, but it was a heck of a fun cruiser. Today’s lampooned Ferrari is tomorrow’s collector. The Prancing Horse always wins. I recall a local car show here years ago. I had my yellow 348 alongside some real beasts - a Bugatti veyron, a Ford GT, a Aston vanquish, and others. Guess who won the “Mayor’s Choice” award? My cheap-o Ferrari.
Maybe not right this second...but they come up all the time. https://www.exoticcartrader.com/project/ZFFXR42A5VO107930 This was one I looked at in May/June but personally am not a GTS fan myself...and it was a direct comparable to the one sold on BaT (maybe even a better example) and it sold for a good bit less than half of the BaT sale. Red/tan aside...there's this much much rarer spec for sale here that is an F1, which is the rarest of all 355 combos (excluding Fiorano and Challenge)...F1 + GTS is I believe one of 524 examples off the top of my head. This one has carbon seats as well as blue on red being a significantly more rare combo than red/tan. It's also half the price of the example sold on BaT and personally, were they both the same asking price, I'd take the Blue all day: https://www.platinumautocars.com/details/used-1998-ferrari-f355/66206726 Frankly both of these GTS's were/are priced right...but all it takes is two people who really want wants in front of them at auction to drive the price to irrational levels. But I digress...I've driven a 993 RS worth around $300k which is considered a very special version of the 993, and personally...I'd take a standard 355 over it if I had to pick only one. The 355 is undervalued and it will likely be in the 150-200k+ range for nice examples in very short time.
Black Horse Motors also has two red/tan F1 GTS's in their inventory https://www.blackhorsemotors.com/vehicle-details/1998-ferrari-f355-gts--targa-coupe-dfaf0c5598955a4d83e310ad43e7b599 https://www.blackhorsemotors.com/vehicle-details/1999-ferrari-f355-gts--targa-coupe-9ba52693804b6946bb065f4ced783129 both of them with fresh major services and asking $90k and $95k Is $70-75k really the delta between a manual and an F1?
Wait... they all forgot the 1 infront of the price, same with that scottsdale car. Sent using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The one on exotic car trader is my car! haha I purchased it from them. I wouldn't use that as an example. They had never seen the car and were helping the owner's realtor sell the car as he had moved out of the country because of his fear of covid. If you want to get even more specific, it's also the only other GTS with a manual tranny to sell on BAT - that was the last time is sold AND Black Horse in FL is who won it there. My car was a lucky find - I did recondition the seats and did a lot of paint correction to make it look pretty though.
This is an American thing. Go to Mobile.de and you will find numerous GTS for sale with manual trans and in various colors including several in red. Additionally, price variation between Bs, GTS, and spider are just about none existent. There is greater variation between different samples of the same models than there is between different models. Of course there are examples of each model on the high and low side, but to say one model is generally priced higher than an other just doesn't hold up in Europe. I'd venture a guess that a serious buyer could find a better example of a GTS with lower mileage, buy it, ship it to the US and make it legal for less than what that BAT car went for.
This is very true. Most do not want to.deal with shipping etc. Importation in some states is a pain. Sent from my SM-F900U using Tapatalk
I’d say on average of $20-30k Yes, that is the opposite of the US market. Plenty of spiders and F1 GTB’s in the US at a much lower price point. Handful of GTB 6spds and fewer GTS 6spds here right now.
Quick non translated glance at mobile.de shows a lot of higher mileage and red/black GTS. Definitely a LOT more inventory than in the US and even those seem to be right around $100k USD. a lower mileage red/tan 6spd GTS is there but appears to be $150k USD.... https://m.mobile.de/auto-inserat/ferrari-f355-gts-manual-rosso-corsa-tan-beige-böblingen/305251134.html?ref=srp
Great to see such a strong price. The car on BAT isn't even what I would call a premium or platinum car, and it still nabbed a seriously impressive price. I can only imagine if the car was in perfect cosmetic shape, had all its key/fobs, was sub 10k miles. Who knows. Very glad to see cars getting the prices they deserve.
i think i know where the cleanest and lowest mile yellow GTS resides...wld be awesome to see what it wld pull on BAT
I like yellow 355’s but it could be the hardest color to sell (like J’s heading to BaT shortly). Hoping it does well for him regardless.
Isn’t that the Nicholas cage GTS yellow from the movie the rock? It should be easy a sought after combo imo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That was a spider- https://productplacementblog.com/movies/ferrari-f355-spider-1996-car-driven-by-nicolas-cage-in-the-rock-1996/
Wasn’t there an argento 355 GTS six speed auctioned about a year ago ( in Oct 2019) that had been wrecked and repaired? Seems it went really cheap. 35k or something like that? Mecum or BJ I believe.
I had two 348s and they were glorious cars. Loved them both, and about all I did was replace a throw out bearing and a fuel pump. As far as I am concerned, they were every bit as reliable as the Toyota that I was driving.
Hi guys. It is very interesting to C such prices for 355 GTS! I am considering to buy a friend's gated 355 SPYDER, dark Blue EXT & INT, in a solid mechanical condition, well serviced, just needs a littttttttle work I guess in the interior to get it in Top Tip condition. Arround 20K miles as I remember. What would a fair price be guys IYO? Any recommendations or suggestion? U think I should hurry in my decision as their prices may sky rocket soon? (Based on this BaT recent event) Thanks...
I wouldn't hurry; there's always been a constant supply of spiders available. It's much more difficult to find a good GTS/GTB, especially if it's a manual. Price could be between 50 and 80, depending on condition, maintenance/time since last major, manual vs F1, and whether all of the common problems have been addressed. As far as a recommendation, get a PPI. It could save you a ton of money in unexpected repairs. Take your time, and don't be in a hurry.
