I have a 95 355 spider that I just purchased and recently had it serviced for oil, tires, etc... Just have 1 major problem. Passenger seat wont move and it is backed against the rear which covers the back allen bolts that are needed to remove the seat. I have been able to undo the front bolts but cant access the rear ones. So here goes...

    1. When I click the button forward I can hear power being applied to the side gears on each Rail but it wont move. There appears to be no obstructions on either Metal Railing.

    2. Checked fuse panel but 355 manual says nothing about seats except Floor Fuse?

    3. Relay Panel on passenger floor board doesnt seem to list any relays for either seat. Is there any relays for these powered seats and if so, where are they located?

    4. Had mechanic friend apply 12 volts to the Black Prong with 2 tips that is hooked to the motor, this didnt work either. Is this what they call a Potentiometer?

5.Ordered so called POT for this seat but how in the hell is this gonna help if I can barely gets hands underneath seat to replace it. If I try and use force to lift the seat up 8-9 inches I could end up bending both of the Metal Railings that allow the seat to move back and forth.

What the F*******K can I do...

You need to power the seat motor with 12v in order to make it move to uncover the bolts. You want to apply power and ground to the motor wires, not the potentiometer wires. If I remember correctly they are the blue and black wires.

There are 2 terminals connected to the silver motor. one is a (Black 2 prong) connector and the other is a (White 3 prong). What prong and wires do I put juice too. Can I use an external car battery instead of the one in the car due to it being behind the front tire??? Any info to get this seat out will be of major importance. thanks Brian

Yes, you can use an external battery on the 2 pronged black connector. If you connect the power and ground to the pins, one way will move the seat forward, the other way will move the seat backwards.

Use the "Search" function at the upper left of the screen, enter "Seat Potentiometer" and you will find more information on the repair.

I tried both black and white plugs. first the black male/female and nothing happened. Also the white plug which has 3 wires. I put juice from a new car battery to both black and blue wires simultaneously and also nothing happened. I wish the seat would have broke midway, then all I would have to do is remove the rear bolts and yank the entire seat. the seats are so low that it is very difficult to work under them...
