Only if it's made out of inconel, at that price it isn't

What size did you order....I think you will need the larger for any chance at covering it entirely.

I'm also curious how thick the header blanket is.........when received, post closeup pics of the blanket material.

I ordered the v6-v8 size. Fits fine IMO. Go here to see one of the headers covered. Not the best pic as the outer definitions are hard to make out because of the paisley bed-spread, but it's on nice and tight using the supplied clamps and wire :D

I haven't put the other one on, yet, so I'll remember to take a pic of thickness before wrapping. In the meanwhile, here are the specs:

    Width (in) 20.000 in.
    Length (ft) 2.00 ft.
    Length (in) 24.000 in.
    Wrap Material Thermo-Tec
    Wrap Color Silver
    Temperature Rating (degrees F) 2,000 degrees F
    Installation Snap Strap
    Thickness (in) 0.063 in.

Looks great from picture, looks like a perfect alternative to Capristo $1800 headers heat shield.

"Perfect" will be determined by the end results. Neither product (Capristo) or the other has much "in use" testing. A friend of mine has had his for a couple years now I believe...no issues. He is not much of a DIYer, but will ask him if his tech has unzipped them and checked the condition of his Fabspeed manifolds recently...

Just looking at them both, the Capristo blankets are considerably thicker, which should offer more insulating qualities...that is less thermal transfer. But I certainly like the price of the alternative... ;)

The Capristos are definitely thicker; even more so than the stock heat shields, which is why I figure these ThemoTecs should be better than having nothing on the Fabspeeds.

When installed, I'll use my temp gun to measure, then report back.

Any reduction in heat is a good thing and will go a long way.

Thermal blankets are a good thing to help deflect heat, deflect not get ride of. Two totally different things. Remember ever action there is a reaction ;)

It would great to have before and after temps of not only the manifold tubes and collector, but also ambient engine compartment temps.

Ask about the 'aluminized' material make up. In my search for a suitable material for my new heat shield, a lot of these 'aluminized' layers were simply shiny plastic with a minimum of actual aluminum.

How are your Thermo tec heat shields working out? I’m trying to decide if I need to really spend $1600 for inconel blankets or do these work just as well? I have Fabspeed headers.

I have the Inconel shields and they really are terrific. Don't know about the Thermo tec but the Inconel really cuts down the radiant heat. I had Capristo blankets that worked well but got really dirty and are very heavy and bulky.

Bob, did you have to send the headers off or is it a diy kit?

You need to send them off. They took about 3 weeks to do. I sent mine to Turbo Source in Andover, Minnesota. They have pictures of their shields
