I had heard about the air rail problem and have seen the two different designs.

Brian had mentioned the upgrade in another thread, but was vague on details. Made it seem like it was old news. You wouldn't think it would be that hard to get some info on the OEM headers(older upgrade or newer upgrade) but it is. The people at the two Ferrari dealerships didn't seem to know anything about it. Given how these headers were/are failing, if they really updated them, you would think that they would be promoting the upgrades to sell their improved product.

    Good morning everyone,

I just put down a deposit on 97 gtb, 36k miles....just had engine out service at Ferrari and clutch and headers were disassembled and inspected...all good....awaiting results of compression + leakdown test

I believe these headers are stock...do I need to get new ones, just to be safe....would prefer to stay OEM, but no point in buying something that will eventually fail....or is it clear that the "new" OEM headers are of better quality?

If not, do I just Tubi, keeping the remaining exhaust system OEM (i do not want to change mufflers..etc)?

    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I would just make sure you have metallic core cats and not the old ceramic core ones. My car has 56k on the original headers and they're fine, but the ceramic core cats were removed early on in it's life for test pipes, and I'm currently running high flow metallic core cats.
