My headlight ( pass side) would not open
tonight, the light was burning but would not
lift up... I had to use the manual open to
get home. Anyone have an idea where to start
checking for the problem, it has never given me any
    problems in the past

FUSE especially if it was cold out. Mine has done the same thing. I believe the factory uses a 10 amp fuse and they are a common problem. I replaced mine with a 15 amp and never happened again. Several here told me about this fix and it seems to work without really a lot of risk of causing any other problems. Mine has been in for almost 2 years and working perfect. :)

pm sent. I believe I need to correct the factory is a 7.5 fuse and you will need a 10 amp nothing more. It's located in the front drivers side below the removable panel. Give me a call on the pm number if you need further. Just switch a 10 amp fuse from another if you don't have a replacement to test it and I'd bet it will work. Most other explainations for this type failure are more rare.

Don't drive in rain, if you did, you probably need a new head light motor lift.

Also could be the lift motor itself as I have now changed 2 in 6 years of ownership.

Passenger side headlight stopped working. Based on some threads, I checked the fuse. It was blown. Replaced with a spare 7.5 and it blew as soon as I turned the battery connector back on. Replaced with a spare 10 and it blew also.

    Any ideas?

They pop as soon as power is restored...before I attempt to raise the headlights.

There are 3 relays ( bosch) they are standard 5 pin all auto parts
have them change all 3 replace fuse... If still blows check
the plugs on the motors for direct short unplug the motors
replace fuse and check use process of elimination

Rather than just replacing the fuses, use the current setting on your digital volt meter and measure what the draw is. Touch the meter probes to the exposed metal onthe back of the fuse and use the 20 amp setting. If you think pure thoughts, the motor will lift the lamp. Sometimes, the rubber stop loses it compliance so the fuse blows at the stall current. And you back the stop down a bit. FWIW

The electrical wires get corroded on the lifting motors of the head lights if you drive your car in the rain, check to see if this is what is causing your short.

    Hi there,
Im new to the forum and relativly new to Ferrari, so be gentle if im asking silly questions.
The Left hand side light motor has given up the ghost in our 1998, 355 F1 Berlinetta,
its very intermittant, when give a little turn of the manual adjuster it then trys more to operate,
Has anybody any idea of where to get a motor ?
either new or second hand ?
(believe it or not dealers dont have one and say that there is not one available in Italy either ?)
    or
is there another motor which can be used.
    Any help would be appreciated
