I got mine a couple of weeks ago, but haven't gotten around to putting them on yet. Any tips to make the installation go easier? It looks like they pretty much just snap on over the existing ball links.

I found some of the little gold retainer pins were a bit ch to get off of my existing struts, had to play with them and 2 small screwdrivers a bit, but all in all only took about 15 min to do all 4.. The new ones just snap right onto the ball.

Mine arrived today also, but it will be about 3-4 months before I can install.....got to put the front and rear deck lids back on first.

That reminds me, the doors, suspension, tranny, engine, converible top, fenders, wiring harnesses, bumpers, brakes, wheels, fuel tank, radiators, windshield, headlights, wipers, and a few bolts and nuts have to be installed also...

Maybe I had premature ejaculation on ordering these struts...lol

Got mine installed today. Now my engine cover pops up to the open position all on its own! :)

I did have a little bit of difficulty getting the old struts out. I don't know if the struts that were in there were original, but they were secured with a metal wire retaining clip that fit around the circumference of the strut just below the ball socket. It took me a while to even figure out what I was looking at, and then some judicious work with a small screwdriver to get under the retaining clip and pry it off. Once I learned how to do it on the first one, the others went quickly. The new struts popped right on very easily.

I had the same exact problem. I actually took one completly off and examined it to see what it entailed. Then it was no problem removing the other 3 by the wire clips...

By the way - a tip I got for all you 355 and 348 guys out there .....if you're storing your car for the good ol' northern hermisphere winter - then manually raise and lower the struts once a fortnight around twenty times - apparently it "regasses" them and keeps them as new - mine always raise automatically when I pull the engine release handle now.....

Thx to Robbie and 355Spider for the tip on replacing my engine bay struts. Yes, I had to remove a strut to figure out how to remove that wire clip. BTW Robbie, to install the new struts, do you just push it onto the ball joint? I worked backwards trying to source replacements locally whereas I should have checked Fchat first!! Lesson learned! The ones I took outt were Stabilus trated at 400N. Hopefully, Rockauto will still have stock available.
    Yeh, Fchat rocks!

I just ordered 4 of them also. They charged me US $44 express post to Australia. Total was US $83.35 or around AU $135.00. :):)

That works out to around AU $33 each. Mine were all nearly f*cked, so its money well spent! Thanks Robbie! :D:D

Installed mine today. Once I figured out how the spring wire worked , was able to replace them easily. The trunk and hood actually stay up now! Thanks again Robbie for a great and inexpensive upgrade!
