I have a 1995 355 with 75K miles on it. Some or all the the hydraulic lifters need to be replaced. I've been told by Ferrari of North America that they no longer stock this item and send problems back to Italy for re-build. Does anyone know where I could buy these or have them rebuilt ? Has anyone else had this problem ?

You cannot buy these lifters new from Ferrari. Ferrari has a rebuild program for them. Take them out and send them to the dealer. However if you send them out to an independant rebuilder you will be VERY surprized what kind of car the lifters are taken from. CHEAP to buy BRAND SPANKING NEW.

Due to the nature of this forum, I will refuse to tell you the mainstream car they come from. Lets just say Ferrari don't make them. Send them to your local machine shop and I'll bet they will tell you.

Many have put forth info, and posted cross references here.

i respect the fact you are in the biz, but i cannot fathom why you would comment publicly, and not post the info.

    Perhaps pm him the info?

The "I know but I am not going to tell you" thing does not befit a person such as yourself.

    Just my opinion.

Now I am curious :). My bet would be a Volvo or BMW from the same era, such as the Volvo 850i or 960, or a 3-series. Probably not too difficult to figure out for a good engine shop that has books with specs.
