I would like to know what you are paying for a 355spi. Mine is a 99 and I pay 2770/y w/500 ded. unlimited mi. great service - Liberty Mutual. Seems reasonable enough, but is there anything better?
I paid just about the same with Chubb ($1000 per year) 5000 mile limit- Pay about the same with the Gallardo ($1183). One thing you can try is increase your deductible... I have mine set at around $2500. This is personal choice of course on what you would be comfortable out of pocket. But the higher you make it the more sharply the cost per year goes down.
Alex, thats alot for your car. I hear New Jersey Manufacturers insurance is VERY cheap. Especially if you work in NJ. check it out. -Leo
I had my 355 spider with Laland-West at $900 a year and I was happy except they are very limiting. Only my wife and I could drive the car, not even my grown kids. I just bought a 2002 360 spider and Leland-West was only about $1300 year. I decided to see if I could get "normal" insurance in Idaho. I ended up with GEICO and anybody can drive my car and no limit on miles. It cost about $1800 but I switched three other cars to GEICO and over all I saved on my other cars to make to 360 about the same as Leland-West.
I was wrong- GEICO is $2400 for the 360 spider but I saved about $600 on the other two cars and I am happier with regular insurance.
Well I tried the Leland website and they quoted my $1600! I am paying around $1450 with http://www.collectorcarins.com/contact.htm AAA will put me with American Modern Home for $1300....hmmmmm. I may switch, as they are about $800 less for my Bimmer! Dave
That's interesing. I live in GA and currently have all of my vehicles insured with GEICO. I was shopping for insurance and GEICO told me that they do not insure anything that ORIGINALLY costed more than $100K. So they would not even insure a used 355 spider that was currently worth less than $100K. I wonder if that restriction has something to do with the state of GA?
cglass17- when I first called Geico, they told me they don't insure Ferraris. I asked to speak higher up the food chain and the next person took a couple of days, but they did insure a $175,000 car. Try again. Al
You may want to try Allstate. I insure several cars and two homes with them and have an unbrella policy. With a $1000 deductible, 7500 mile restriction and a clean record, i am paying a little over $1k/year for a 1996 F355B.
