Hey gang, Like many posted here, I bought a Kia Sephia convex pass side mirror online and hoping to have it "ground down" by a glass shop to fit the housing of my 355. Some folks mentioned having a stencil or template made to take to the glass shop so the mirror can be properly ground down to fit. Has anyone done this or does anyone have one they can send me? Would save me a lot of time and hassle. Thanks all. ketel
I thought about the removal, grinding and just held it up to the stock mirror. Shimmed it, gave it the evil eye, grabbed some two sided tape and decided ..... Go for it and stuck it on there. So new mirror over the old, I don't think it rubs on movement and it looks like it belongs there. I can see now, and seriously doubt anyone would ever know if I did not tell you about it. Hi all - like many others, my 355 side view mirror was driving me nuts! So I made a trace of the mirror and had a few convex mirrors custom cut. I have four, of which I've installed one and am keeping a spare. The mirrors are not "perfect" fits, but they are pretty darn close... and in my opinion, they seem much better than the Kia option. Because the mirrors were custom cut, however, they are not perfect and have a few minor chips on the edges (see pic)... which, if it bothers you, could be masked with tape around the edges. Anyway, if anyone is interested I will sell my two extras with 3m adhesive tape for $50/each (when factoring in the 3m high bond adhesive tape, this is actually a little less than my delivered cost) + $5 shipping. Please send me a PM or email if interested. Thx, Judd Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
P.S. this is not a factory OEM part! I was looking at a few recently purchased parts and took a quick photo of the mirror on one of the boxes.
Are you installing these in place of the factory mirror or leaving the stock mirror in place and putting this one over it.
I bought one of Judd's mirrors. It goes on top of existing so it sticks out between 1/8 and 3/16". I haven't had time or light to install it, but did a trial run by taping in place. The wide angle is perfect; I'll be a happy camper when it is installed. It solves a big problem with these cars.
