    I bought 1/4" aluminum bushings from ACE HARDWARE and JB Welded to the back of the plug wire cover plate to keep them in place while I reinstalled the plate. This let me separate the wires a bit more and provides cooling as well. I live in S. California and don't drive the car alot so water ingress isn't much of an issue. I have moved on to CnP arrangement as seen in page 4 of this thread though. The plate still stands off, I just don't have to worry about separating the wires.

    I like that on your car but would not want it on mine.
    I think it adds to the P4
