    seen that vid before.. most likely the exhaust is aftermarket..

    at first I thought it was an aftermarket exhaust but now not sure as I read the motor has been tuned ( by Chipracing) to run 9000rpm. the exhaust tips do look stock though. 355's are the best sounding ferrari , bar none.

    It sure sounds stock with the bypass closed but I definitely don't recall mine sounding that good/loud when th bypass opened with the stock muffler.

    My guess it that it's a modified stock muffler (cut open and the bypass path opened up) or an aftermarket muffler that has a stock sounding main path.

    If that is in fact an untouched stock muffler (non-challenge) I'd be very surprised.

    I think its a stock muffler. the tips look stock. I just bought a stock muffler and thinking of changing to stock from a tubi.

    tips look stock ... sound is about right for stock as well .... possibly has metallic hi-flow cats .... I believe the sound is embellished a bit from being indoors.

    +1......nothing wrong with the oem exhaust.
    Just pulled my Tubi for some mods so reinstalled the factory exhaust
    in the meantime and the high pitched F1 scream is super nice.

    The only downside to the OE exhaust is the massive weight aft of the rear wheels which affects handling and the lower HP .... the OE exhaust can be down 20-ish HP, when compared to a well designed 'cat-back' system .... :eek:

    the weight of the oem muffler is 49 lbs vs the race tubi weighs in at 37 lbs....so not a huge weight saving (see post # 11).....at least compared to tubi. has anyone dyno'd the oem vs tubi or capristo mufflers?

    but as far as sound.....while the tubi is a little louder exhaust both at idle and wide open throttle (also more base sounding)......... the oem has a nice higher pitched F1 scream.

    has it actually been proven that a tubi or capristo or any other aftermarket muffler give more HP on a 355? Otherwise the weight difference is minimal. I'm thinking of going back to stock after a tubi (original style) to get a more quiet ride so that its more pleasant on long drives.

    other things being equal, weight is something many peeps prefer to do without ..... 13 lbs (25%-ish) lighter for tubi is a lot IMO ....... however sound and HP are other valid reasons to swap the OE for a good aftermarket system ... :)

    You are correct ..... some systems out there do not free up significant HP ..... I have dyno tested OE vs Capristo (standard version) and the difference was a 7 RWHP peak gain for the cappy ...... :eek:

    But that minimal gain is not the story with all aftermarket .... a well designed cat back exhaust can free up 15 - 20+ HP to the wheels ...... a nice twin bypass 'y-pipe' delete can do 25+ HP to the wheels .... and .... a well designed 'full system' can free up 40-ish HP before any ECU tuning ....... the custom twin bypass in my signature freed up around 30HP to the wheels .... using stock ECU and stock manifolds ... :)

    Where is the bottle neck restricting HP for a 355? In a completely stock system with stock headers, y-pipe, primary cats and muffler, isn't the bottle neck the primary cats? so changing just the muffler in this case provides very minimal, if any HP gain?

    It seems the every portion of the OE exhaust plays some part in HP losses .... and as you mentioned, the OE primary cats included ....... :eek:
