I thought all you 355 owners would get a good laugh out of this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-Ferrari-F355-Spider-9-950-Original-Miles-Perfect-/140478875971?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item20b5318943 FYI I posted this because I laughed so hard I coughed up my beer!!
Okay, I have to admit that trusting the original 16 year old cam belts to go another 20,000 miles (to reach the 30,000 mile replacement interval that the owner INSISTS on) is akin to believing in the tooth fairy. Good luck to the person who wants to be the lab rat on that experiment.
I just sent the seller a question, we'll see if he answers it! "Since the car is now 15 years old, does that mean if I continue putting the same mileage per year on the car I won't need new cam belts until the year 2040?"
I really don't get the point here. Obviously the current owner does not know the reality of cam belt life. Why screw with the guy. If you think its an OK deal buy it and have the belts done or negotiate that cost with him. Otherwise why **** with the guy. Is he pulling the wool over your eyes or something?
Because he says things like this: "There is absolutely no reason to replace the belts on a 10,000 mile car that has been babied like mine." When someone makes statements like that with an air of superiority, you don't think they deserve to get razzed a little? This is FChat!
You are of course correct. This is Ferrari Chat....where we eat our young. The guy would also get bashed if he started a thread asking how long the belts are good on his car. The fact is he doesn't have a clue.
I spoke (emailed) the owner about buying his car, the info he was giving what what his mechanic had told him. He has a priviate mechanic that came to his house to do the work.
Unfortunately, most of the time those are BOTH true! Is there any place in Colorado Springs that works on Ferraris?
