AFAIK, Becker was the only one for '98. I had one put in my '96. Be sure you get the 'code' as they won't work w/o it if power was interrupted.

It seems Sony was in 95-97 and Becker in most 98 and all of 99

If it's not too much trouble, could someone post a post of each model (both the Sony and Becker)? Also, what is the "preferred" model to have in a 355? I also saw an article where someone was able to "modernize" the radio to allow access to their iPod. What model allows this ability to configure it to access an iPod or even an iPhone??

The Becker units have a wiring adapters available for either a single input (no charging) or a dedicated IPod one that does charge. They plug into the output area of the radio that goes to the optional Tape deck. Check EBay or Amazon. Not sure about Sony unit.

    I have the original Becker.

    It's pretty ****ty.

I'm doing a phantom install with just a 3.5mm and bluetooth a2dp source. It will retain the factory head unit, everything else will be hidden.

Focal 165 KRXS 6.5" K2's in the doors
Focal Tweeters behind the dash vents
    Focal Solid 2 400w Amplifier
    AUX to 3.5mm Convertor
    3.5mm to A2DP Bluetooth Transmitter

Everything will look factory when done, but should sound a thousand times better.

Hoping to hide the amplifier underneath the passenger seat. The amp is only 2 inches tall.

I will make a new thread when I do it.

Excellent. That's what I hoped to do with the Sony when I get it. Amp is up front already

I know of someone on here who has confirmed with FNA that his 98 came with a Becker.

A lot of these are installed in the US and OEM and being delivered with one may be hard to nail down.

That's the first I have heard that 97 did not come with one. I have seen pics of 95 with a blank plate but not later.

For what it is worth, my 1998 came with a Sony and the disc changer. I thought I could modify it for Bluetooth but it was just a whole lot easier to pull the radio for a new Sony with BT enabled. Plus there was no comparison between the old radio and the new one for audio quality and iPhone integration.

The old radio sits in a box with the old steering wheel. If I ever sell the car, the new owner will get the original parts.
