Ok just got the recent NADA collector book values and thought this was interesting. First I would like to compare the 355 -360 to the Porsche 993-996. Some things are the same of both cars. 355/993 better body design. 355/993 less power compared to 360/996. 355/993 more raw driving. 355/993 more of a following. 993 numbers right now are blowing away the 996, and I think the future will hold the same for the 355. hehe...Ok enough of my soap box the numbers speak for themselves.

All I am pointing out is the 355 is finally passing the 360 in value. Doesnt matter what model the NADA is covering just that the 355 is holding value more than the 360.

    1999 F1 355 Low $90,200 Avg $102,300 High $128,500

    1999 360 Low $90,400 Avg $105,100 High $125,600
    2000 360 Low $90,000 Avg $102,200 High $123,200
    2001 360 Low $94,900 Avg $107,000 High $129,400
    2002 360 Low $101,600 Avg $117,200 High $135,300

    No way. No chance.

If anything, the 355s are dropping like rocks and will continue to plummet due to TWO things:

    1. The 360 is under $100k and becomming very affordable
    2. The major on the 355 is 2-3x what the major is on the 360.

When the 430 becomes "affordable" in a few years, the fact that it has a timing chain will drive the 360 down even further. This will bottom out the 355.

The 348 (seen by most as the lesser 355) will drop even a bit more, going from a mid to high $40k car to a mid 30s to low 40s car. When Speciales are selling for $50k you know it is going to happen....

All this as the 308s and 328s continue to climb. People will not want to pay for those engine out services anymore when Ferrari has gone to a "remove a wheel" system again. 355s and 348s are doomed. Testarossas will probably hang on a bit due to their being a 12 cylinder classic.

I agree and have no plans to sell mine but you gotta admit for a 100K I'd let it go and find another in same condition with recent service and pocket the extra 15K.

    Hey my friend!!

My opinion is opposite. 348s 5 years ago were a $45-60k car. Now, there isn't a 348 to be found for $60k. The Speciales are even going for low $50s. Most 348s can be had for around $45k now. You see some going for high 30s/low 40s, which is insane. A super high mileage car can be had for $30k. If I remember, you got the steal of a lifetime on your current model.

I know these numbers will be argued on here but go to Ebay and take a look. I guess that would bring up the "Ebay isn't the market" then. To them I say "Fine, go to AutoTrader or Craigslist."

Either way, when you are at Ebay, take a look at all of the 348s in the mid to high 40s. You won't find a single bid on them. Only the ones in the 30s are getting sniffed.

    Those numbers are way off.

It is the opposite of the "blue book" that the stealership show you. The stealership
would say look at my sotware, your car is worth XYZ on the trade in. Um yeah right.

I looked long and hard at both the 360 and 355 before buying. The 355 will be a classic in many years to come. It has amazing lines and the drive and sound are simply out of this world. The 360 is higher off the ground and has lost the Ferrari music. (the 430 more so) . They made just over 10,200 or so 355 in total of which lesser of them came to America compared to most of the 360 came to America. They made over 16,000 360. Seeing that the 355 is older and Maybe 5,000 of them came to America and I would venture to guess that at least 1000 of them are damaged or writen off. Take into account the Challenge conversions and your down to less than 4000 easily. If you are looking for the really nice 355 then your pickings become even slimmer...down to less than 1,500 in America.
Now the 360 (over 16,000) I would say at least 10,000 of them in America and because they are newer then there are probably 9,000 of them still around. Many challenge cars would bring them down to 8,500. If you are looking for a fine example of a 360 then there will easily be over 5,500 I would guess. I know that these numbers are only wild guesses but I bet Im not far off. Now compare the remaining fine examples of each model left.....360 - 5,500 and 355 - 1,500. I remember looking at one of the big sites (cant remember which one) listing most Ferraris for sale around the world a while back and there were less than 20 355 for sale and almost 150 360 for sale.

I disagree with the 360 passing the 355 in value. You have calculated it basing off the oldest year of the 360 with the last year of the 355. FWIW, the Avg retail of a 95 355 is $61,100.
Just to go a little further the last year for the 360 (2004), its avg value is $132,200. In my opinion both models are not appreciating in value just yet. I could substaintate more and will if needed but its my dads birthday.
