I'm having a hell of a time getting the upper corner fasteners to latch in the footwell cover over the fuse panel.
Does anyone have a tip for me?

    Very frustrating.

    thanks

It's the same as the 348 - and just as frustrating. :)

    1. Make sure the bottom screws are loose (not removed) to allow some movement in the panel.

    2. Next, insert the top right-hand fastner as this one is the trickier of the two to line up. Use a very short flat blade screwdriver to twist it in.

    3. Do the same with the top left-hand fastner. You will notice they click in with a quarter turn (or was it a half turn?) and snap into place. Apply some pressure to the fastner as there is a rubber grommet that needs to seat before it has the depth to catch.

    4. Tighten the bottom screws.

I have found it easiest to simply position the fasteners so that the "flat" edge is horizontal, then push them straight into the hole in the footwell (through the fusebox door hole) using a flathead screwdriver. Key is no turning to insert the fasteners, only turning them to remove. It's a deceptively simple system. Buttoned up in less than 5 seconds per side. Try it.

Thanks for the tip. just push them in without rotating.
Of course having the very short flat bladed screw driver is a challenge,
not to mention the contortions the body must make if you are right handed.

I was thinking, if the shift lever wasn't in the way it would be easier to attack this from the driver side and lay across the floor diagonally. That way I could better utilize my right hand.
But again, the shift lever won't allow this.

    Success.
Here is what I discovered was easiest for me.

My problem was at 5'8" I wasn't tall enough to get inside the car while kneeling outside.
So this solution will help those of us that are "average height". I place ottoman that was 15" high next to the door sill. I then placed two thick pillows on the door sill as the ottoman was about 3-4" higher that the door sill.
with these in place I could crawl in on my stomach and get deep enough inside the car without torturing myself. My head was adjacent to the radio.
Now I could reach the upper right side fastener and push it in. Takes about 5 pounds of pressure. I also kept the lower fasteners out as I found that even with them in just a little they restricted my ability to push the footwell plate snug up against the upper attach bracket. so with the left hand you push the plate forward, then with the right hand push the upper right fastener in. Viola, then just push in the left upper fastener, install the lower screws and your done. Piece of cake.
It's the learning curve that is a b*&ch )
