Well I've had the car for 3-4 months now and can't wait any longer to start messing with a new exhaust setup. Before I spend the cash, I figured I'd get some feedback on a few of the different setups I had in mind.

For the muffler itself, I'm pretty set on a Capristo as I'm partial to the higher pitched exhaust note. For the Cats, I'm leaning towards Hyperflows as opposed to test pipes since the car is a 99 and I don't really feel like messing with an O2 simulator and emissions. For the bypass valve, my current one rattles and I don't feel like paying for a new OEM one just to have it happen again so I was thinking of going with the challenge bypass valve replacement part (#9 on http://www.eurospares.co.uk/userImages/111/Large/111_008.gif). The only problem with this route that I've heard is that it can trigger the CEL due to the ECU thinking there's a problem with the valve. That being said, I've read that one can program the ECU to ignore that to retain the CEL functionality. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I just go with the Kreissieg replacement piece?

I'd appreciate any feedback on any of the above setups as I'm really going for the ideal one. That being said, I certainly couldn't waste an opportunity to post a picture! I got the car with 3.9k miles and I've got it up to 5.4k. Driving your dream car (alright, dream car phase I, hi F1 LM) during the summer in New England is addicting and really makes one appreciate life.

PS, the pic was taken back in May after the 30k and the clear turn signals were put on.

Check out Harmony Autosport as they have an optimum setup for the street that is close to race. They make great custom headers and X pipes that replace the upper portion of the exiting system as well as the exhaust aft of the cats. I am in the process of having their system installed.

Thanks for the advice. I've started trading emails with them and the system they're developing is pretty radical; exciting stuff. I'm interested, I just want to hold off to hear some audio clips and to check out the dyno results.

They will be finished with my car sometime in early September. I recommend you ask them to do a dyno and sound chjeck on it for you as at that point it will have their headers, Hyperflow cats, and the Xpipes. I am taking the Tubi off and selling it.
This is as knowledgeable a group as I have met in my pursuit of making the 355 the best it can be.

I will do a before and after dyno with sound clips and video on the complete system. We will be deleting the upper section of the exhaust system and doing a 360/430 style exhaust. It will start with a race header that goes straight into the high flow cats instead of splitting into the upper and lower section. After the high flow cats it will merge into an X pipe light weight exhaust system to balance out the 2 engine banks. Anyone interested in more information on the system please contact us via email at [email protected].
