Hi Guys, I am considering 2 355s for purchase. One has 20K and supposedly a 30k service, it is in a dealer's inventory, who, by the way, wants a $5000.00 wire transfer, to get the car moved to his showroom. I'd move Ferrari's all day for 1/2 that. This leaves me feeling uncomfortable. They emailed pics, but not detailed enough for me The other car has 14k, with the 15k service. This car has a tubi, the owner appears to be a fanatic. 20k car is cheaper, no tubi, Both are F355B Questions 30k service, will the 14K car need it, and if so when? 15k just done. I read the previous posts and do understand the 15k, is a simple service. I am also of the opinion that 20k mileage,is kind of a watershed#. Comments, suggestions, 355B for sale?
have them fax you the service records. just 'cuz it's in his "inventory" doesn't mean he actually has it or owns it or has ever talked to the owner . i have SIX (six - yes one more than five) Enzos in my "inventory". anybody want one? $1.4M each. have you negotiated with the private seller yet? 30K miles of 5 years, whichever comes first. any 355 you're looking at buying these days should have a 30K included in the deal. doody.
I saw pics of the 20k car with the dealer's advertising plate on it. He said he had to move it to his showroom. Private seller was firm on his price. he has had the car a year or so. I suspected your comments about the 30K So, Doody, the 14k car should actually be around the same price as the 20k car, to account for the 30k service. This would adjust for the tubi and miles? Right now, the spread is 9k
All F355s should have had at least one service by this point in time, and the 95s should have had their second or should be scheduled for their second. The 15K service is very simple, the 30K is the engine out do everything service.
Couple of things... Either car have a PPI and run a car-fax. The pp car may look better but the fact that he said the 30K is not due, shows he is dead wrong and what other items have been overlooked by the current owner??? A dealer will back what he sells (if it's an F Dealership). Visit the car if at all possible..one picutre worth thousand words, one visit worth thousand pictures...ya know? Prices vary by region, but ball-park figures for a 30K is $7500 at the dealer and about $4500 if you use an independent. I believe shop rate is 40 hours. If they do provide you with a fax of the 30K, as Doody mentioned, it should be about 4 pages long with an itemized parts list. If you narrow down your decision and cant visit the car, post something here and I guarantee you that there is an F-Chatter in the area who will go visit the car for you....
One other point - you may want to talk to Martin from this board. He is a broker with a solid reputation. Web www.4Ferrari.com Call him or send him an email - he has more cars than what is listed on his web. Frank
Thanks, I will use your advice. I agree with you regarding the service. Let you know how it turns out
Hey GrantB, I didnt know YOU were looking for the same car I was looking for when I talking to you this morning. Everything you listed above was what we went over on the phone this morning. Very interesting.... Good luck on your search. Jon
