did they do a good job or did they have to take the engine out and give you a massive bill ?

    ???

It's the fuel block, no need to pull the engine.
Should be no bill either, it's a recall.

I was being condescending. Having had dealings with dealers, you never know.

    True :)

My hope is that they should have already done lots of cars by now, so they've had plenty of practice....

I rang Zagami's and they said they need the car for 3 hours, so I'll do it at in 2 weeks.
(I put a new battery (Bosch germany) in the car to find that the one in the car (put in 2002 by Lance Dixon's), was made in China and NOT a Ferrari proper recommended brand.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr..................I would be happy if I got 8 yrs out of ANY battery, let alone a battery made in China. :D:D

I bet your German battery doesnt last 8 yrs. ;);)

But if its reccomended by the good guys at Ferrari, then so be it. :D:D

I'll have to take the car to Sydney (nearest dealer), make a day trip of it, hopefully watch them while they do it :)

Okay, here's the truth. I put a NEW battery in the car because it was 8 years old AND because I'm taking it to the dealers. Where I thought I'd probably have to leave it for about 3 days AND they'd leave the battery on (where I switch it off when not using the car so hence probably why it lasted 8 years)(don't drive it much), and they would have probably stuffed it and then they would want to replace it at a massive cost.
So I headed them off at the pass, by buying a new "German bosch ......put one in the F40 and it's great), so they wouldn't flatten it.
I didn't know that they only need the car for 3 hours and I didn't know that the old battery was CHINESE. Although I agree that 8 years was a good result for a battery AND the fact that it isn't flat and still working anyway is an extra bonus.
(lots of stories getting around about the lack of lead in modern day batteries etc. etc.)

The proper battery is important in many Ferrari's, the recommended type of battery has a vent tube that lets the gases created by charging the battery vent outside the battery compartment. A buildup of gases in the battery compartment can lead to a "ka-boom"

Other batteries may fit and have the same capacity, but won't be as safe.

Cheers mate, I was only having a dig at ya. :D:D

With a fleet of Ferraris, I dont know how you manage to drive any of them.:eek:

Surely the ones Century make to "suit" a Ferrari would be up to specs as the OEM?? :):)

Would be interesting if they were not. :):)

Not neccessairly so, what you want is a "european style" battery with a plastic vent tube attached. See grey tube coming out of the side of the battery in picture.
