Over the last few Weeks my 355 has become virtually impossible to open from the outside using the remote or even disabling the immobilisor when inside the Car, you have to point towards the area of the alarm ECU when in the vehicle to get any response, from outside it doesn't seem to help wherever you point it :(

It's happening with both remotes and new batteries have not helped.

Yesterday I removed the Alarm ECU Aerial from it's upper clip and left the tail outside the leather cover but it has not helped

    any ideas?

Possibly the main battery in the central unit? If so, search for the how-too thread and contact GCalo for a battery replacement:

There's no battery in the main ECU that I know of. There is a battery in the siren module but that should not make any difference. I completely removed my siren module. Nothing else was affected.

This is a creepy problem. I mean if one day he can't defeat the immobilizer. Really bad news. I want to be completely rid of my alarm system/immobilizer for this reason but I don't know how to do it.

    An update

I'm pretty certain the Aerial or Aerial circuit is not working, having tried many permutations of Aerial position, seat position and direction/ location of the remote the situation only improved when the seat was moved away from the Alarm ECU. To remove the Aerial I had to drill the 8 rivets holding the outer metal case together. I remounted the unit in the car without the metal outer and it works 100 times better, remotes will open the Car from some 30+ feet away, attaching the Aerial seems to make no difference at all.

I'm going to try and beg, borrow, steal a known working Aerial to test with the outer cover back on but for now at least I can get in the Car :)

Oh and just to frustrate me further, having found a temporary solution to this problem, moving the seat back and forth so many times broke the Seat potentiometer and left me with a seat that wouldn't go forward!, fortunately a local specialist had one in stock and an SD1 to set it up
