Anyone know how hard it is to get at the fender badges to remove for a respray? As a matter of fact it seems the rocker panels and lower door intakes might be a b#@# to remove as well and I could use any tips to make it easier.

I appreciate any help to make the dismantle easier.

    thanks

It will depend if you have the factory fitted shields or if you have aftermarket, are the guards recessed where the badge is mounted? If they are that means yours are factory shields (very rare) if they are not then there is a very good chance they will be held in place by doubble sided tape, a heat gun should make the removal easy....

Post some photo's, will help us to identify what style of shield you have fitted.

Sorry I forgot to mention it. They are factory shields. Also I have a late 99 that was built at the same time as the serie fiorano's so I have carbon fibre door sills and actually every option of the the serie fiorano except the alcantra steering wheel and numbered plate if that makes a difference.

I believe they have two threaded posts and are held on by two small washers/acorn nuts. You could probably access them by removing the wheel well pieces. Won't your body man do this prior to the re-spray?

Yes he will but I am trying to get all the answers in advance and keep the figuring it out while on the clock to a minimum as he does the best work I have seen but has little experience with 355's. As we all know F-cars are not built considering ease of future work on them.

Here's a diagram from the Ricambi site (see, Optional diagram Nos. 40-43). In fact, there are a total of 3 threaded posts per shield (6 total). As you can see from the diagram, there should be no difficulty in removing the shields once the inner fender liners are removed.
