The shifter on my 355 makes a "chirping" sound when up shifting between 2nd to 3rd. No other gears and it shifts smoothly. Just the annoying sound. Any thoughts? is there some bushing on something in there that can be lubed? Replaced? I see some part number 154741 which is some ball bushing.

You mean the sound it makes when it hits the gate?

Don't think its hitting the gate. That's a different sound on a sloppy shift.

the clack on changing gear in a Ferrari is what I live for, but sounds like it isnt that. Is it from front or rear?

Try removing the gate and see if it still makes the noise when you shift.

i apply a thin layer of grease in the gate , nothing messy , and the chirp goes away , and believe it or not it seems to aid in smoother shifts.
